I heard that all that really happens if you don't sign up is that you can never be a mailman or have any kind of gov't job.... so maybe you were okay to just ignore it... I don't know....

going to canada probably wouldn't work anymore because the u.s. has signed something with them saying canada wouldn't allow any draft dodgers to go there and same thing with mexico. it's really rediculous the whole thing. i don't understand how they can force people to fight and kill people like that. i could never see myself killing anyone, especially for a war this stupid. oh and if they really do have a draft like it's been said, women are also going to be drafted. this whole thing just pisses me off

There's not going to be a draft. We're living in a country run by people who went through that once before, and the great majority of these people were hit very close by the draft. You can't support a concept that you've seen lead to the death of a brother or the kid that sat next to you in Study Hall. Reinstating the draft would be at the very least political suicide. The left is just doing the same thing as the right, manipulating us using fear.

I plan on going to Canada next summer, just leaving without telling anybody im close too that I am leaving. Ill be 17 then, 18 august 31, and I am going to apply for canadian citizenship. Then I am leaving this continent most likely, crossing the ocean to Europe and see where that takes me. but yep, thats my plan for life

edit: i am not going to fight in a war that I dont agree with, Id rather go to jail

the draft dodger thing with canada and mexico are when the draft acually hits. im talking about before it hits. and if i hear serious word of it beeing installed soon then id leave. i could make it to canada because the draft wouldnt be installed yet therefore that law wouldnt be in use

thats what i was thinking. or, just go there before you are 18. sure its running away but its technically not dodging the draft, since you didnt sign up for it in the first place

Isn't there somekind of rule that when it's against your religion to fight that you don't have to sign up or something? Or like before, when homosexuals weren't allowed? Don't you feel this sudden rush of being a buddhistic gay coming over you all of a sudden? ;)

And what about studying? Isn't it so that when you're still attending school/university that you don't have to?

Yeah, the whole draft thing is weird.. and I'm wondering, in this age of technology, where a lot of the fighting takes place behind buttons, why aren't females up for draft? Not that it would be a good thing, 'cause no one should be forced to fight, but it is kinda sexist that onle males have to go.. we gurrrlls can fight as well! ;) Send us over there while pms'ing and thing will be okay in no time! ;)

Nah, just kidding.. noone is waiting for a second Vietnam, especially not for not-noble causes like oil.. and Bush search for world domination bla.. *sigh*

Ah well.. good luck! *sends good vibes*

    fuck the draft, seriously

and there is a loop hole in the us-canada agreement,

Canada will not send any one back to their native country if they have a chance of going to jail or dying, and being sent to war there is a high chance of dying

    oh Canada.....
