Any festivals or events coming up in florida? I just moved to Jacksonville Beach and it's not at all like Chicago. There we had peace fest, hemp fest, doors concerts and all kinds of kick ass things. Anything going on down here? I gotta know. I'm falling apart at the seems not having any good festivals to go to.

    Please help....

I just moved here too, unfortunately during the summer time must tours avoid the sunshine state - a bit too hot. I'm told come fall and winter, more good music come through. From Jacksonville you can always shoot up to Savanah - not to far and they have a good scene. Down here on the southwest coast, you gotta make your own entertainment

Yeah, florida sucks ass for concerts. We're a peninsula, so once you get to the bottom of the state, you have nowhere to go but up, so shows rarely come here.

Check out www.musicliveshere.com and for upcoming event information, and www.magmusic.com for Magnolia Fest information. MagFest is in the fall and has Donna the Buffalo, and Derek Trucks Band, among many others this year. You'll find that there's lots of stuff that happens around J-ville and surrounding areas, just not much in the summertime. Of course www.jambase.com will have a complete event list for the state.

I'm on my way to hear Didg Revolution www.didgrevolution.com perform in a Clearwater city park this evening, then a drum circle later on the beach. There's stuff up your way too. St.Augustine drum circle is Thursday nights. Good luck.

Actually, If I was in J-Ville and had time to spend, I'd go up to Smilefest in Union Grove, N.C. in a weeke or two. It can't be more than a 6-8 hour drive. I'd drive from here if I had the time to spend.

He is right about MagFest. You want to be there. The Aquarium Rescue Unit is going to be there. If you don't know them go here www.aquariumrescueunit.com Oteil Burbridge on bass(from Allman Brothers), Kofi Burbridge on flute(from Derek Trucks Band), Jimmy Herring on guitar(with The Dead, and has been with a dozen other big bands). Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park www.musicliveshere.com is about 1 1/2 hours west of Jax on I10 in Live Oak FL. It's a great venue and not to far from home. I'm in Tallahassee, about an hour west of Live Oak. I try not to miss anything out there.

Also keep your eye on Orlando events. It's only a little over 2 hours from where you are. I also have tickets to The Allman Brothers in Atlanta for Spet. It's a longer drive up there, but every tour goes to ATL.

www.harvestfest.com <--- this is in LaFayette, GA and going to kick some a$$.

www.jamcruise.com <--- the sails out of Jax this January, even if you can't make the cruise, be sure to check out the party the night before it sails.
