What do you guys prefer? Amtrak or Greyhound? Or do you not like either? A few weeks ago, I took the train up to Tacoma, to spend the weekend with my dad and his wife...he had gone up earlier and I didn't want to go up then, so I took the train. I thoght it was a really nice ride, great price (26 bucks for one way...I caught a ride back with him). I didn't get up and explore the train, because I was working on doing some homework for a class, but I will next time I take the train! I loved it, and am planning on travlling this way in the future...to go where. I was next to a coupel drunk people, and that was interesting. What are your thoughts?
Amtrack rocks, its the best travel party bang for the buck, ive drank, smoked up and even fucked on amtrack, all I can say about greyhound (ghettohound) is its the transit system for the trash of the usa.
LOL Yeah, I was amazed at how cheap it was. I've never rode Ghettohound...or Greyhound, for that matter.
I figured it probably would be...but I wasn't going to make that judgement call myself, having only ridden Amtrak one time and never ridden Greyhuond.
I actually like both the Greyhound and Amtrak. When i have money i go Amtrak thou as i hate to fly. I had some good experiences on Greyhound on a trip to Las Vegas from Washington D.C. a bunch of us bonded and we actually looked out for each other during the trip.
Wow, that's cool. Yeah, after taking the train, I'm not too impressed with the hassle of flying anymore.
I've taken the greyhound bus across the USA, 3 times in last 15 months. It's a 3 day bus ride from AZ to NH. Never taken a train across the country...guess I should try it one of these times.
I think train takes a little longer.... because you have to go through the mountains. I love amtrak.... and greyhound is no fun whatsoever.
I think the train is quicker than the bus actually, for going to Seattle and stuff at least. I don't know about New Hampshire. But I'd think it would be faster...after all, no other traffic!
I only went on Amtrak once, from Seattle to Portland and back to Seattle. It was very comfortable and pleasant. The only drawback is that schedules have to be taken with a grain of salt. I've had all sorts of Greyhound experiences, many of them depressing. Crowded buses and unpleasant people can make a difference. Avoid travel during weekends or around holidays if you can help it.
I love both Greyhound and Amtrak.I use greyhound to go from Nothern Ca-Los angeles.it cost me $89.00 RT.I use amtrak capitol to go to San Francisco. It cost me $40.00 RT It cost too much to fly.
Yeah....I was amazed at how cheap amtrak was! Plus you don't get to see the land as good when you fly...I really enjoyed that from the train!
Traveled amtrak a few times (with family). The European rail systems are much nicer, but are more expensive too. Traveled greyhound once... that was enough for me. There was either loud cussing, a baby crying, or a loud game boy the entire way.
Be interesting to see how much it would cost to transport a motorcycle on Amtrak. I'd only do cross-country with a bunch of friends. A lot of things can happen on the open road that makes solo travel a VERY stupid idea. Park bike on train, enter sleeper car, sleep three days, wake up on other coast, motorcycle down coast.
I hear the train rocks.. I've had to hit the bus a few times and each time blew. My Greyhound story: Just before Christmas I was taking a train from Atlanta, GA to LaGrange, Ga. I bought the ticket at 9:00am for a 1:30pm bus that same day. Well the 1:30 didn't show up till 2:45 and when it got there it was full! I was so pissed cuz the sold me the ticket without a blink and then wanted to say that I couldn't get on. I was so pissed and raised enough hell that they let me on anyway but I had to ride in the bathroom of the bus...... I hate Greyhound
