Hi, I'm a new member of the site, usually I introduce myself to pretty much anyone I don't know by talking about music.

SOAD are probably my favourite band. Not really traditional hippy material, obviously, but they have a great point to make, and they do it without fear of a bad reaction from the authorities or whoever else.

Similar beliefs run through most of the bands I like, although not all, and some of them are very different to the others. In the modern day, I suppose I like Green Day, Rage Against The Machine, Nirvana, Killing Joke, Blink 182, and several others who I can't really think of.

Older stuff includes Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix (Red House especially, genius song), Thin Lizzy and, erm, Guns'N'Roses. I would probably like the Youngbloods, Grateful Dead etc. if I'd heard enough by them but being only 15 I haven't really, yet.

I do have a band, Defacto (looks a bit too much like Defecate in my opinion but I MADE IT ANYWAY). Committed Socialist and peace-lover, although the band's guitarist is in an inner-city gang these days so a membership change may be due. Not really got off the ground at all yet but hope to soon.

So, anyone else got similar likes/dislikes in music?

P.S. Thanks to the creators of this site for, er, creating the site. Finally a whole group of people who I share views with!

Hey, if you like SOAD, then try to give Sikth a listen. They are like a crazy...uh...I don't know what genre they would fall into, but they are insane. Crazier than SOAD, except with no political stuff.

I don't get SOAD, but they are selling more records than I am so they can't be that bad...

I do like Thin Lizzy..A lot.

Miles Davis once said there is only two kinds of music..

    Good and Bad.

I ain't been on for a couple of days, but yeah, good. Hey, even if you don't like the same kind of music, I don't care. As long as it ain't too commercial!

I'm stuck in a town (and school) where, although they are good friends to have in most ways, even the people I know and like all want to work in the ARMY or NAVY when they grow up. And they all like at least one awful boyband.

I mean, a military career? At a time like this? Well it's good to talk to some of my kind of people online. See you around, everyone!

P.S. Does anyone else on here have interest in the Mumia Abu-Jamal situation?

P.P.S. No that's just Defacto like, politically relevant Defacto. Looks too much like Defecate sometimes (did I say that in the original post?) but hey, it's alright.

It has a weird Scandinavian 'd' as well, like the unnecessary umlauts in Motorhead and Motley Crue.
