I'm just curious what other's ppl view are on this statement "The remedy is worse than the disease." I came to this conclusion after being on medications for most of my teenage life for some health problems. As soon as I got away from all the poison I was feeding myself on a daily basis...I started to feel much much better...infact my WHOLE outlook on life changed. I don't get it though, we go to the doctor to look for a 'fix' for something...well I was told by a SPECIALIST that if I went off the pills I was on...I could possibly die...however I felt so damn shitty all the time...and felt REALLY like I was poisoning myself everyday when I took these pills. So I had to make a decision and listen to the doc. or my own body...and I figured my body would tell me what was the right thing to do. and that it did. I kind of live by this statement now...and drive my family crazy...they hate that I think like this. Give me your thoughts all!
I think that may be true at times. I think as we age, or suffer illness we realise how true "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" becomes. For myself, I have only been perscribed 4 medications, one i use semi regularly (Asthma inhaler), One I didn;t take because of the side effects, and two I took. Of the two I droped on becaause I saw it as a waste of time, because the "illness" was hairloss. The other one, an anti depressant was useful in allowing me to get my life together, and then I quite as soon as I started having side effects. So in my case, 2of three worse worse than the disease, on helped and one was a joke.
Define remedy. Anti-biotics and most perscription medecines and radiation treatments, are all very toxic things imho. A healthy organic plant-based diet rich in brain food, I have seen remedy many people of many, many conditions. Prevention is the best medecine. As someone once said, we don't have health care in this country, we have sick care. About a quarter of doctors have taken nutrition classes, and they are usually just as sick as us 'regular' folk.
Hey....don't diss the antobiotics....sometimes the disease IS worse than the cure.....take a staph infection vs. penicillin....i'll eat the mold any day rather than have rotting flesh (we've got the skin eating variety in these parts).
I'm just saying, for the most part, anti-biotics are a negative thing. I think the top 10 sellers are all things for cholesterol, blood pressure, etc...all shit people should be able to handle naturally with a little common sense. Plus the pharmaceutical companies are responsible for the food companies feeding us such poison for cheap, and making it expensive to eat nourishing, via cutting the government in on part of the profit to keep it legal and not get messed with, just like dope pushers. And they are responsible for keeping pot illegal too.
This is an anonymous poem that I feel really sums up the idea of healthcare we have today. 'Twas a dangerous cliff, as they freely confessed, Though to walk near its crest was so pleasant; But over its edge had slipped A duke and fooled many a peasant. So the people said something would have to be done, But their projects did not at all tally; Some said, "Build a fence 'round the edge of the cliff," Others, "An ambulance down in the valley." Well the lament of the crowed was profound and loud, As their hearts overflowed with pity. But the ambulance carried the cry for the day, As it spread through the neighboring city. So a collection was made to accumulate aid, And the dwellers in highway and alley Gave dollars and cents, not to furnish a fence, But an ambulance down in the valley. "For the cliff is all right, if your careful," they said, "Why, if folks even slip and are falling, It's not the slipping and falling that hurts them so much, As the shock down below when they're stopping." And so for years, as these mishaps occurred, Quick forth would the rescuers sally To pick up the victims who fell from the cliff, With the ambulance down in the valley. Said one in his plea: "It's a marvel to me You'd give so much greater attention, To repairing results than to curing the cause, Why you'd much better aim at prevention. For the mischief of course, should be stopped at its source. Come, friends and neighbors, let us rally; It makes far better sense to rely on a fence, Than an ambulance down in the valley." "Why he's wrong in his head," the majority said, "He'd end all of our earnest endeavors. Why that's the kind of man who would shirk his responsible work, But we will support it forever. Aren't we picking up all just as fast as they fall, And giving them care liberally? Why a superfluous fence is of no consequence, If the ambulance works in the valley?" Now the story seems queer as it's given here, But things often occur which are stranger. More humane we assert to repair the hurt, Than the plan of removing the danger. The best possible course would be to safeguard the source, Come, friends and neighbors, let us rally; It makes far better sense to rely on a fence, Than an ambulance down in the valley."
