ok then in that case I'll pray to Hecate the death goddess to watch over you this winter.
on second thoughts as they are my personnal beliefs its neither respectful to my religion or you to do that.
oh and for the record just because a person isn't a christian it doesn't mean that they don't belong to another religion that does believe in the power of prayer as ive just demonstrated

'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these. (NRSV, Mark 12:31)

That's a blatant falsehood. Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, Jews, and lots of tribal/indigenous religions believe in prayer and it's efficacy. Non-christian does NOT mean atheist.

Okay, sorry, the atheists (which make up the large part of the people on this forum who aren't christian) on this forum don't believe that prayer works.

    Reworded.

I don't think what happens to us after death is relevant to us who are living.

Death is as natural as birth. I trust that whatever happens, if anything, will work itself out. No sense worrying and stressing over speculations of the ignorant. Because, we are all, every one of us alive, ignorant on what happens after death.

yes I agree with you, however when we are told something from an early age that frightens us then the fear does tend to stay with us as adults even when we no longer believe, and I think thats what the author of this thread is trying to explore and sort out

When I say prayer, I mean prayer. Otherwise I'd be lying. ;)

    lol.

Well, G-d gave you free will. He won't bend it, but He'll get ya some day. And it will be a choice of His own. If His heart's to hardened, it may not work.
G-d usually gets His way, but by putting in cercumstances and softening one's heart. Not by force or bending your free wil.

    :)

( sorry guys for bumping up a old topic, but I HAD to answer...didn't I? ;)

Doesn't putting in circumstances or softening one's heart affect free will? (yes, yes it does)

Actually, why tell him you're going to pray at all? Why not just do it?

No worries bout bumping up an old topic, anyway its not at all old for me.

I've got to say, I don't mind you praying for me, if thats really what you want to do. Personally I don't think I'm worth that much of your time, but thats your choice.

I don't know if the Christian God I grew up with is real or not, I don't think anyone can be 100% sure of that kind of thing. Basiclly I'm saying, if he is real than maybe your prayers will do me some good, and if not I'm uneffected. No harm done.

P.S. pray for Josh, I don't know if He knows my screen name...:p
