oh man, its been too long without work, and i'm totally excited to be making money again. from now on, i'll be a professional coffee ninja (aka barista)

i got hired at a starbucks....the benefits are great and you only have to work a bit more than 20 hours a week to get them....not the highest pay ever, but you get tips eventually....shitloads of free coffee and such (both at work, and actual unmade coffee to take home)....stock options after 6 months, and they're perfectly willing to promote people who do well, so theres room for advancement, unlike other jobs i've had (hell, if i were still at the grocery i could be stocking milk my entire life without ever becoming management or anything like that)

plus after a while if i want to move, i can just get transferred to another location!

this looks like its going to be a good job.

Congrats! You lucky devil you, being around all of that lovely, lovely coffee just overflowing with caffeine. *mouths waters* I can practically SMELL it!

I'm a total coffee addict, I'm hopelessly addicted. Yummy!

ugh, actually i hate coffee. well, i love it as far as taste, aroma and texture and so on is concerned, i just hate the super high caffeine content. i can rarely finish a whole cup without getting overloaded. if i drink coffee, i usually like decaf or a mix of decaf and regular. but all the same, it will be a good job, and for my free drinks i can always just whip up some tea or chai or something :p

my parents will be thrilled with me bringing them some free coffee though, and it will make good christmas gifts.

    Hey Nesta!
That's good news and you will do great there. I worked in Starbucks years ago when I needed a job and found them to be the nicest employers. Starbucks was started by a bunch of young guys years ago in Seattle and it grew to what it is today. They are one of the few employers that hire freaks-goths-gays and anyone else that has been stepped on. Their Medical program that they provide was inspired by one of its founders who's Mom passed away from her family not having health insurance. So he provides it to EVERY employee weather they are FT or PT.
The training is great and they RESPECT their EMPLOYEES! They have also donated a ton of money to save the rain forest and other good causes. No matter what the age of the employees they work as a team. It's clean work and they provide a space for folks to hang out and drink coffee. I wouldn't let a hillbilly ruin your great day here.
He is supporting Microsoft and all sorts of Corporate giants by being on the Internet but he thinks that's OK?
Good luck with the job and enjoy Starbucks. Two of my sons now work for them and one is now running a store in NYC. It has helped him pay for his college-where he is studying healing. Peace The Wiz

Maybe you should get off the Internet? Are you not supporting HUGE CORPORATIONS like Microsoft? Many hippies work in Starbucks and are treated with respect etc. Also-it's not shit pay and they offer FREE Health Benefits to EVERY EMPLOYEE even if they are Part Time. THINK before you open that toothless mouth!

starbucks actually does give back to the comunity alot, and pays coffee farmers well above fair trade prices if they grow organically and pay thier workedrs well. starbucks recycless too. the coffees pretty good too. and you know im probbaly the furthest dude form ever sellin out. oh well to each thier own.
