Has anyone ever tried grow bags? They are plastic bags that have very tiny holes in them to let oxygen to the roots of the plant and drain water.Has anyone had any great luck with these vs pots? Also what is the best size pot for a plant going into 12/12?

I tried grow bags 5 years ago.
I don't like them. For whatever reason, the plants in the bags didn't grow nearly as big as the others I had planted in the ground.
The conrainers that I like best are called pulp pots. They are made of heavy duty re-cycled paper pulp.
They breathe and give much better moisture control. If you use too much water the containers will absorb it and "give it back" if the soil dries out too much.
Another advantage is the roots will grow right through the bottom, if neccesary.
    They can also be re-used.
    They are somewhat cone-shaped. I use the kind that are approx. 16" x 15". I pay $8.00/each.

Why reinvent the wheel. Grow bags are a clumsy way to transfer plants. Keep them in a pot unless you plan to plant them in the dirt at a later date.

grow bags work fine- if you never move the plants.

if you do move them around, the root system inevitably suffers some damage, setting back the grow a little bit each time.

I do, however, like to use the quart size for seedlings. They make for an easy transplant, as welll as being space efficent.

Pack them tightly together in a plastic crate which can be rotated or moved around as a unit.
Only take them out of the crate once- when they're ready for transplant.
At that time, slash the bag multiple times on it's sides and transfer the plant to a prepared pot, bag and all.
Way easier than transplanting from pots. And less damaging, too.

I have used growbags for a year solid. They are worn out and crappy. They get holes in them and dirt and water leak out . They just suck. I don't even like nurserypots anymore.
I just made raised planterbeds 1ftx 1 ftx 5 ft for my indicas , and a 16"x16" x 4 foot for my diesels (sativa- NYCD).
I'll never use growbags again_ I may use square nursery containers around 3 to 5 gallon, at least two or three gallon is best FOR GOING INTO 12/12. I'll use them for my moms, and seedlings get 6" nursery pots.
But for me, Nothing compares to a raised bed- they are simply doing divine and branching like crazy.

I read somewhere that a 6"x6" pot is good enough for a 12/12 plant.Tiedye420...I C that you go for the 2to3 gallon region.Would a plant in a 6"x6" suffer from small size space 4 the roots 2 prosper?

The top of the plant will not get more then twice as big as the root ball. I use the bags and love them. I have no problem with moving or rotating them. They are easy to dispose of and I reuse them at least twice and some times more. I use the two gallon bags and never veg clones for more then two weeks. I get 30 to 40 grams per plant.
