The website above tells about the side effects of the patch. I am currently on it (birth control pills have unfortunately caused major depression within me, so it was a last resort) However with this news I am looking into different alternative methods of birth control that actually work...as in I don't want to hear about the "pulling out" and "abstinence" methods. I've recently been reading up on the Fertillity Awareness method and was wondering if anyone has subscribed to it or basically if anyone has any information on alternative methods that have worked for them..ANY information would be very appreciated~

iud, diaphragm, condom (male or female), sponge with spermicide. Don't go with the shot if you already had bad reactions to the pill - you'll probably react even worse to the shot.

ok...so what about some NATURAL methods of birth control?!

look into FAM (fertility awareness method). there is an awesome book called, Taking Charge of Your Fertility, & i found a copy super cheap on eBay. the plan take a little bit of commitment on your part (like a few moments a day), but, hey it is sooooo worth it! & no nasty chemies in your body!!! :)
i'll be glad to tell you more if you like...

Are you serious????? Why on earth would they put you on a higher dose if the pill caused depression? When I started having severe emotional side effects, they put me on a lower dose pill... And a lower dose, and a lower dose, until I found one (nearly the lowest hormone dose available) that doesn't cause problems...

You might try looking into the Nuva Ring. It's a little flexible ring that you insert in your vagina -- leave it in for 3 weeks, then take it out for a week to have your period, just like if you were on the pill & had a week of sugar pills. Since the principle is that you absorb the hormones where you need them, instead of sending them thru your digestive tract, it has a far lower dose of hormones than would be effective in pill form. A friend of mine highly recommends it, I plan to try it next time I go in to the doc for an exam & new prescription...
