I haven't visited either of those sites in quite a while. I like George Starostin's reviews. They are very thorough and well-written. Sometimes they're almost too thorough. Mark Prindle, on the other hand, I don't care much for. Unlike Starostin, he covers a wider range of genres. But the reviews themselves are rather subpar. He tries to be funny and edgy, and often ends up failing miserably. It seems like sometimes he focuses more on trying to be witty than on the actual music itself.
Heheh, yeah, I basically agree with you. I'm quite a fan of Starostin, and read his reviews alot. It was you Matt, I think, who showed me his site when I asked about that Electric Prunes album (at that point many years ago when I was interested in almost any album as long as it was "psychedelic":& ). I think Prindle can be quite funny (like his David Live review, by Bowie, for instance), but too much of his stuff ends up like this: "That fuckin' original version of "Mary Anne With The Shaky Hands" that I love so much! What a great song about a broad who gives good hand jobs! So good you can almost fuckin' feel it, if you aint rubbin' the Rockefeller already. Then Entwhistle's two songs on side two are half fuckin' good and half fuckin' asspipe, Roger's "Here For Me" is short, sweet, and wonderful - like a pussy covered in shit. Then Pete's five-minute snoozefest sucks the fucking shit out of a fucking hairpie, but the live version of "Bargain" kicks the fucking shit out of a fucking pink triangle of love! Roger actually fucking shit pussies the effort to hit all those fucking shit pussy high notes! Fucking shit pussy! And listen to Keith go! He sure was hyper! Fucking shit pussy!" This is only an excerpt, but the entire "review" is cut from exactly the same cloth.
