Are there any places in Ca where you can get a barely livable property for bout 15 k or round there? Im lookin to relocate to Ca but Im on a low budget. I think Id consider most neighbor hoods habitable. :)

I Used to live in LA about a year ago & lived there for 2. Pretty much everybody rents there because it's costly. Just property in the low section is going to run you up $40 grand but basically anything in LA that isn't "Skid Row Livable" will run you $400,000 & up. But rent is hell also since most apartments are $2,000 a month. That's in LA County alone so you can imagine what the rest of CA will cost you.

you've got to get a looooooooooooooooooooooooong way away from even small population centers to find land that's really cheap. there's some sage brush on the nevada border east of alturas that's in that price range. there are some really remote counties in california where land is cheep like that. but cali is one of the most expencive states for land.

and i don't think you'll find too many hippies, or much of anybody else either, anywhere near where it is, which is why what little is cheep is.

anyplace you can commute to work from, bare land starts at arround $60K, anything with a house on it, even an out of code shack, is gonna run from $250k on up.

there are some really rural and remote counties, like alpine and lassen. even sierra county which is mostly two lane roads, those that are paved at all, and i think there's one stoplight in the whole county, you're looking at arround a $100k for anything.

there's an outfit that lists rural property; http://www.unitedcountry.com/ that might give you some idea what to expect. you can find cheep land on there, even in cali, but i got to tell what is, is REEAAAAALy out in the boonies.

which might be just fine. i'd love it if i had even that much, but that's the thing, if it's where you can earn anything it's gonna cost you.

oregon's better for land, and montana. nevada that outfit i mentioned don't list at all but you can get dolar an acre b.l.m. land there on a 99 year lease, 'cept even there you'll need a 4wd to get to it.

Thanks Themnax :) ! Insane expensive aint it!? I aint realy too concerned bout "nice" at all. I live in onea the filthyest ghettos you could look at. I never even seen anything worse than where Im at on TV or anything. You cant step in the gutter round here or youl slip on a used condom. Wouldnt be that bad but you might fall onto a dirty set of works when ya fall :( . I was lookin at cheep li'l Calafornia trailor parks and ghetto propertys, stuff like that, not so much anyplace nice. Like I said, neiborhoods dont bug me. The way I figure it Id only be there for as long as it takes to get out. As long as I could hook up with a Medical Marijuana club round there I'd be able to start workin myself into a slightly beter place and so on. :) Blessins on Ya Themnax!

I was looking at buying property in alpine because they have a lot of social service agencies there and it's really remote but I couldn't find a thing for under 150,000 and that was for a condo...insanely priced but they're suppossed to be coming down. I bought a condo in escondido 5 years ago for 49k sold it for 69k and now the one's in that same complex are going for 250,000 I could kick myself but hindsight is 20/20
