Im a vegetarian, and have been so for about 3 months. Im starving because my mom refuses to take me to the store to by food for vegetarien meals, and everything she makes has meat in it. Ive been living off of fries and coke for the past 3 months but she still wont take me to the store, and i still refuse to eat meat.

Your mom doesn't buy potatoes, vegetables, corn, rice, beans, pasta and stuff?

have to say that is pretty cruel, i'm sorry to hear about this, try and explain to your mother why you decided to become a vegetarian and explain that just fries and coke are no good for you and hopefully she will see she is doing you harm, good luck

this doesn't make sense to me, sister ..

living off just fries and coke?! is there no juice, milk, or anything remotely healthy to drink in your house?

your mom must buy carrots, onions, celery, basic vegetables in order to make her dishes. you can eat vegetables. does she not buy fruit? you can eat fruit. (???) don't tell me your mom fills your entire fridge up with hunks of meat.

it's unfortunate that your mom won't make completely veggie dishes, but you may want to learn how to make basic dishes yourself. pasta and soups are very easy things to learn how to cook, and if there are veggies in the fridge, you're home free.

fries and coke for 3 months will kill a person. would kill me. i can't even drink a can of coke without feeling woozy.

    peace,

Yeah I agree, you need to start cooking for yourself. After all, you made the choice to be vegetarian, so you should be responsible for it and make your own food. Dont expect mom to do it for you.

definately...if there are veggies or fruits at all in the hosue, just learn to cook yourself. It is a good thing to know whether you are a woman or a man. I am an 18 yr old guy and I can coook up a storm. If you just rely on vegetarian convenience foods, then that is not healthy, nor is coke and fries. I do not know labor laws in your state, but when i was poor and trying to live on ym own when i was 16 or 17 i got a job at a restaraunt so that i could always eat. peace.

Not to mention, where are you getting your fries? Most fast food fries are not vegetarian, they have a solution containing meat broth sprayed on them before they are cooked.

sory to get you down darlin, you just have to be creative and come up with ways to be sure that your needs are met. I know that at 13 when you hear the advice "explain to your parents your reasons for being vegetarian" you may think ...yea right....maybe not, i would have. I always found it difficult to give my reasons to my parents (still do sometimes) but i have found that when you do and you stand your ground, usually they wont bother you anymore and at least pretend to be supportive.

well as you know, i'm not a vegetarian, but i'm working at a veggie cafe so i pretty much am a vegetarian since that's all i eat - i haven't had meat in ages. there's tons of great food you can make; grab a bunch of veggie cookbooks from your library and check it out. indian food is really easy to make.... dhal is a great source of protein, i eat so much of it. dont' just eat krap dinner and chips, man... do you like quiche? that's really easy to make. hey, think of it as a learning-cooking experience.... haha..... good way to impress the girls! :D

    love,
    sophia

    not a hijack at all!
If people got it through their thick skulls that veg is a cuisine as well as life style, then we could eat a good dinner and get back to arguing! ;P
