So does anyone remeber the round about time they felt their first kicks? The kicks you can let others feel? I've been feeling the baby but I swear she gave me a good one tonight. It startled me yet I couldn't get her to do it again when I touched the spot. I moved my hands and 15 or so mins later it happened again. Maybe I'm just imagining things but I thought 18 weeks is too soon? It would be nice... I have this doctor I hate... he tried to tell me he thinks I'm pregnant 2 weeks behind what I believe and what the ultrasound confirmed. I'm sorry but I know my body and schedule a little bit better than he does. I don't know why but I'd love to foil everything he says. Hes a jerk... I'm a crazy pregnant woman, I know.
I thought it was sooner than that. With my last pregnancy, I think I felt her moving around 14-15 weeks. I also believe that with multiple....no, that's not the word.....second, third, fouth, etc. pregnancies, you feel the baby sooner because your muscles aren't as strong (don't I know it!) and you are more likely to recognize it because you have felt it before. I think it was around this same time that DH was able to feel her too. Of course, she would curl up into a little ball in the corner of my uterus so you could see and feel a little moving lump. I could be wrong though about the weeks though, but I'm pretty sure 18 weeks isn't too early.
I'm nearly 20 ish weeks and my oldest was sitting on my lap the other day and kept telling me to "stop doing that". i had no idea what she was talking about cuz i was sitting still as a mouse. Then it dawned on me that it was little baby kicks that she was feeling on her back I felt the baby move like eons ago, but i'm just starting to feel them on the outside ya know. at 15ish weeks, my mw was having trouble finding bean's heartbeat, so she was pressing kinda hard with the doppler and bean kicked so hard that the doppler slipped off my belly...twice. That was neat.
With each pregnancy, you tend to be aware of fetal movement earlier. Also, if you are on the smaller side, you tend to feel things earlier. With my twins, I felt movement at 10 weeks. My doctor could see them wriggling around in my womb via ultrasound as well. With my oldest son, I didn't notice any real movement until I was around 20 weeks.
After reading colorfulhippie's post, it made me think about when my doctor would use the doppler on my belly during my pregnancies, how every single time it would make my kids kick like mad at it. It was like they were saying "What the heck is that thing?! Get it away from me!" The did the same thing with ultrasounds. When they pressed down on my belly, it immediately triggered a reaction.
I've been feeling kicking for quite some time now but didn't think others would be able to feel it for awhile. I can actually see the baby's backside on my stomach. All she does all day is roll around in circles...its kind of funny being that my kids get a big kick out of running around chasing each other in circles all day. I think this one will fit right in... lol
awww, that's so sweet. I was basically going to say what everyone else is; that you generally feel it eariler with the second babies and on after that cuz you're used to it and you're stomach muscles are not what they were the first time around.

I don't think 18 weeks is too soon at all. I felt my guy move at 16 weeks and the very first day my dh felt him too. It took me half the day to realize that the little flutters I was feeling were actually the baby moving. That evening dh was trying to feel and Jim gave one really good bop and dh felt it. Just that once and not again for several weeks.
The girl I coached felt movement at 16 weeks. She said the baby was stomping her bladder and sticking limbs up inside her ribs. However myself and others could not feel the baby through her tummy until about 23 weeks.
