I used to barefoot everywhere. But i moved back to brighton 2 months ago and i got 2 bits of glass in my foot in like 2 weeks then i saw a hypodermic needle on the floor right on a bit of path i walk down everyday. It scared me and now i wear my sandles and my trainers.

    it sucks :(

We just have to look where we're going more than most people. For me the problem is those invisible thorns that some roses drop on the ground, and since I do a lot of gardening, those are my worst.

I have to admit that I find it convenient sometimes to wear my sandals/shoes. I'm the type of guy who likes the view as I walk, rather than spending all my time looking at the ground for obstacles.

I hardly look where I'm going and I get maybe a splinter a year.

It depends where i am if i look, but there are certain places where i just dont WANT to be barefoot. Id rather not take the rist of catching HIV or any other disease in a town where drug use is sooooo common.

Like monosphere sometimes i just find it better to wear my sandels.

Not meant as critique -you're just as free to wear sandals as to go barefoot, as far as I'm concerned- but as a concern... would sandals really protect 100% (or even close) against needles? Those things are *really* sharp, I'd think they're either laying completely flat in which case you could just step on them and no harm done, or they'd lay sorta sticking up, like in the grass or on other uneven ground, in which case you could probably easily stick yourself in the side of the foot or something even if you were wearing sandals, flops or even trainers with soft sides.... Just wondering...
Needles are nasty though, sucks big time there are so many where you live [IMG]. Fortunately here, even in the cities, they keep them cleaned up real well, got programs for people to hand them in, places where people can 'safely' use drugs etc. I regular visit the charity shop next door to one of those drug places and even there it's okay. Mostly it's people saying 'but there are needles everywhere' but I never see any myself...

yes id nevere seen one untill that point but the fact id got glass in my foot twice in one week (rarety for me as in 2 years iod only gotten glass 2 times before that)

Sandles are a little bit more protection at least and i still get the free feeling of barefoot ness on the top side of my foot.

Im on to trainers again at the moment though.

i know there CAN be o problems, ive been barefooting for 2 years. I know how to watch out, but i also know how to be careful. I'm not going to risk my health for the thrill of being barefoot. Not in brighton. I follow my instincts as they are so often correct. And my insticts are saying "dont barefoot in brighton right now" ... .so i wont.
