Just wondering how other people have overcomed anxiety, without drugs.. It just came back today. I used to get it really bad, mostly feeling unable to breathe which makes me swallow a lot, and then my stomach starts to hurt because of all the swallowing. Its constant agony I can't stop crying. Im scared its back for good.. Has anyone had anxiety like this? Its usually trigged by feeling ill or nautious because I am emetophobic (fear of throwing up) I end up panicing and it just gets worse. Every time I eat I feel like im gonna be sick, which makes me panic more! so I dont eat and my stomach just gets more and more painful.. anyone got any thoughts, similar experiences or advice they might be able to share?
i had something thing like that i was worryed about my heart so i would panic, which raised the heart rate which made me panic more,i started going to counsualing and it just got better now im fine
Tons of things you can do. I'll make a little list. Meditate or Yoga: There's tons of ways to meditate. Do a web search and find one that's best for you Cardio: Get that heart pumping for 20 minutes and your seratonin levels will boost and you'll feel better. You don't have to kill yourself. A brisk walk at a somewhat fast pace will do the trick Diet:Watch out for stimulants-Caffeine, sugar, nicotine etc. They'll get you more anxious Laughter:An old DVD, a funny friend, some Comedy Central. Prayer:I'm not trying to throw a religion at you. Pick the one you like and pray. Feels nice Stretching:If you don't do Yoga stretching helps out a lot. Gets the tightness out of your body and helps it relax more. Massage:A good back rub will work wonders for relaxation and help fight stress and anxiety. Occupy the mind:Find an enthralling book, game or TV show to get your mind off of whatever it's on. Herbal remedies:St. John's Wort and Valerian Root can help out a bunch. Vitamins:Was told about this by a doctor. I forgot why but it helped. Support Groupso a web search for your area. It helps to know there's people with the same problem. They usually have great suggestions. Visualization:Usually, it's coupled with meditation. Your mind doesn't know imagination from the real deal in alot of aspect. Visualize a great day in the morning and it'll help throughout the day. These are just some suggestions. Please PM me whenever if you need some help!
Drink water or juice when you don't eat, and your stomach will feel alright probably. This is what we call, fasting, haha. Helped me with some of my anxiety and all sorts of mental problems you probably had no idea you and everyone else has. Might be intense at first(and it gets more intense as you go, i compare it to going from light meditation gradually into a psychadelic trip),you get used to it though and start to really enjoy it, and you can always cop out and leave and eat at any time. Easier to do when you eat healthy like organic fruits and veggies. whole grains and soy foods, but fruits and veggies for fast-breaking and starting, unless you wanna feel super sick. Raw foodism helped too but that is a hard thing to stick with. Im sure just eating better does help though and has made some difference for me, and it's not hard to learn what eating better means and theres often lots of simple things you can to do to eat better. Again, whole grains, legumes, fruits, veggies, soy foods, organic when you can and where it counts. Going vegetarian and then vegan helped me find a lot of easily attained happiness in my life. Idk, love helps. Of all the vitamins and pills I took, nothing helped me like getting psyched about something happening in my life I looked forward to. Trouble is, that kinda stuff doesnt always happen and isnt always available. Talking and writing works wonders, just getting things out, and puts them in a new perspective. Makes them seem simpler, and even silly at times. Its a matter of asking the right questions, answers are always there. I'm battling the same beast though, so I dont really know what to tell you, though I really wish I did. It sucks, feels like you have lots of demons clinging and hanging onto you for dear life and feeding on every ounce of yourself and your energy. Shakin them is some hard work alright. Excercise is a natural anti depressant and seems to help some. For it to be effectivce, you have to do aerobic exercise for at least 30 minutes a day for a month before it really shows supposedly. Does the same thing those over-prescribed pills do, balances your chemicals naturally. also - prayer helps some. They proved prayer y'know... you dont even have to know a person, just their name and condition and you can speed their healing. Thats just one possibility though, Im sure its worked many other miracles. Not the kind of prayer like, send me a mercedes God, Ill never be bad again. The heartfelt kind that comes from deep down and a deep need, and a little good intention never hurt anybody. Karma is also another thought. I have definatley seen some prayers answered though, you just have to look for it. And be careful what you wish for, whatever is listening seems funny about details and you have to make yourself clear. Never tryed anti depressants, did the wort for about 2 months but didnt notice anything. Love seems to be the key... Hopefully it'll see us through sometime... At least you know your not alone now, everyone has anxiety to a certain degree, but me and you just got lucky and totally fucked, lol ;P You just gotta have good inspiration to leave the hole I guess, and 'keep on dreamin, cuz when you stop dreamin its time to die'
shitty... i get anxiety too it's so annoying because you can't figure out why the hell you're so... scared. when i started to cope with the fact that my dad was goin to die soon, i started smoking wich grounded me into reality again.. now i'm addicted don't start smoking ... god ... >.< the best i can say is, find a way that you can live... maybe it's the high stress enviroment that we're forced to live in... but considering that most of the intense anxiety issues are because of a chemical imbalance... drugs (perscribed or from the street) are the only way to go. unless changing your diet and excercize helps... it's popular theory that americans (and westerize cultures) have so many stress/depression/anxiety problems because of our lifestyles... wich include our diets, daily worries, and lack of excersize. i'm so sorry... anxiety sucks so much, i dont know what i would do if i had it worse than i do (like you)... i'd probably try all the above.
Ok thanks guys.. I dont smoke (quit pot 4 months ago) dont drink, dont consume any caffeine, Im a vegan, I am not depressed I am actually very happy! Tried vitamins, StJohns Wort, nothing herbal is strong or effective enough, but I refuse to go on prescription drugs. Lack of excersise could be a problem but otherwise nothing to do with lifestyle could be contributing to it! Ah well... oh, and I can't meditate!! Hmms Tanks anyways
