I read somewhere that you should avoid doing mushrooms if taking an antidepressant because it could cause a serotonin dump, which could really screw you up for good. I was wondering if anyone out there has also read this or has anyone taking antidepressants had a sucessful serotonin dump free trip? I would really like to try mushrooms, but I want to get to the bottom of this fact first. Thanks guys.

if your on anti depressants i wouldn't take mushrooms, your putting yourself at great risk for a terrible trip, depressed people should not trip at all,

My boyfriend is on antidepressants and we trip all the time. The reason he takes antidepressants is because he is a recovering addict and naturally, addicts have a seritonin imbalance especially after they become clean. He's never reported any kind of dumping and we used to trip for weeks at a time:)

I'm assuming/hoping he's on SSRI's if that is the case the only issue would be reduced effects. SSRI's have been known to block psychoactives that latch onto seritonin receptors in the brain. From looking at the molecules of all three active ingredients it's clear shrooms act on the seritonin receptors.
