oh, man I think I had sole burns - once or twice. It was terrible, I couldn`t nearly walk!!! But, you know if you`re crazy enough to go barefoot on 200dgrs!!! Actually, you take care on your feet do YOU???
Its get pretty toasty in my neck of the woods, best time is early in the morning or later in the day. A couple of weeks ago, I stepped on some black pavement on a 100 degree day, OWWWW! My feet are fine, but you gotta watch out for the blacktop! Welcome to barefooting! Keep 'em bare!
I noticed pavement and sand get really hot when there's no wind, even if the weather isn't very hot. There's stretches of paved trails at the park I walk without trees and the sun bakes them all day. I never bring any shoes or socks when I'm out walking and ended up burning my feet a few times. It turns my soles red. I walk on the shady spots and usually jog over the hot ones to keep my feet from getting burned. It got me started on barefoot jogging, which is actually comfortable.
Florida's gettin' hot this summer, yes siree. Out at the airport where I've been skydiving, I land in the grass of a pretty big field, but then I have to bundle up my parachute and walk back to the hangar where we pack up again. There's a taxiway I have to cross, and then I'm on grass again for a bit, and then there's a part of another taxiway I have to cross, then a bit more grass, and then part of the parking lot leading to the hangar door. The first taxiway is never really bad. The second one is always pretty nasty! I start out fine, but then I find myself curling my feet up to give the hottest parts a break! I think I end up walking on my heels a little more than the balls of my feet. By the time I reach the grass, I'm ready for it! I always make sure to not look like the hot pavement is too much. I think I'm building a little tolerance to it, but I'm not going to give up skydiving barefoot since most of the whole experience is pleasant. I sure can see, though, how people can actually suffer flesh-harming burns from pavement. It's almost like placing your hand flat on a skillet! Blue skies, -Jeffrey
i remember living on a gravel road. to go from your house across the street barefoot was a pain. you would scorch your feet on the driveways, and it took you ten minutes to cross on the gravel.
