its lost knowledge but the myth of osiris is actually about the 2nd coming of christ. i can teach how to read the myth-osiris is christ in the realm of eternal life -he gets reincarnated and set kills osiris with sin - set is the devil - then set awakens and quits sinning and becomes horus who is the 2nd coming - isis is mary magdalin who helps horus awaken - horus is the reincarnation of ra who is the creator -its a current event that myth is!

*waves* Follower of Horus here. If anything the appropiate way to inturpret that is with Horus being analogus to Christ, but even then it does fit as Horus was still a great warrior (as shown but his eventual defeat of Set), where as Christ was a peaceful man

Most of what is in the new testament, including virgin birth and re-animation, was stolen from earlier texts that pre-date Christianity by thousands of years.

The cross was a religious symbol long long before Jesus' time.

    For a different reason.

The thing is, I've heard at least half-a-dozen different purported "origins" of bible stories, that it's gotten ridiculous.

I thought the whole Horus story was much older than the Jesus one. Didn't it come from ancient Egypt? By Jesus' time, Egypt was already ancient.

ancient egyptian hymn to horus - Horus is the savior who was brought to birth,as light in heaven and sustenance on earth.Horus in spirit ,verily divine, who came to turn the water into wine.Horus who gave his life, and sowed the seed for men to make the bread of life indeed.Horus the comforter, who did desend in human fashion as the heavenly friend.Horus, the word, the founder in youth,Horus the Lord and leader in the fight against the dark powers of the night.Horus, the sufferer with cross bowed down, who rose at easter with his double crown.Horus the pioneer, who paved the way of resurrection to the eternal day.Horus triumphant with the battle done,Lord of two worlds, united and made one.

    I can't find this ANYWHERE.

Also why would the egyptians claim that Horus rose at Easter, when easter is a Christian festivle and therefore wasnt created until thousands of years later?

Me thinks someones making stuff up as he goes along

As I said, Easter wasnt in use until thousands of years later, so I doubt VERY much that its real, or if it is than it was written far to late to beof any relevance

I dont have the book with me, its at my university house, but Horus most deffently wasnt born december 25th. Again its something that just wasnt around then, the christian calender I mean. The egyptians had no concept of 'december', they went by their own calender which was pretty damn different.

Also that site you posted says that they celebrated Osiris dying and coming back, not Horus, you continually get the 2 confused.

As I've stated previously in this thread, I'm a follower of Horus myself, so believe me I know whats said about him.

There are websites that say there are giant repiles in human form living amoung us and ruling the world, do you think thats true because the website says so? Don't believe everything you read

The only resemblence from what I know to Horus that Jesus has is Set Murdered Osiris and spread his body parts all over the world, then Isis found them all except his scrotum, sewed them all together but they magically had a child w/o having sex.. which was Horus.

Besides Jesus wasnt born on the 25th either... the 25th is used because it was already celebrated as a holiday, Saturnalia was around the same time and so is Yule. So they thought the best way to convert people to Christianity was to allow them to keep their old celebrations but jsut give them a Christian "twist" on it.

    Funny that ain't it.

Try reading Budge's orginal translation of the Book of The Dead. Plenty of refferenaces to Osiris and Horus in there and *gasp!* theres not one mention of christianity at all, well I never!

Theres plenty of 'authentic', as you put it, people who know about achient egypt and the religious practices and 'mythology', what you think all these University professors and archelogical teams that find the long lost temples and suchforth are then?

Open your eyes dude, the Set/Osiris/Horus 'myth' existed MILLIENIA before Christanity even existed, so how the hell can it be linked?
