LoL... Never said it, only a couple times the very beginning of fresh year and my English teacher never really said anything. I never really accomplished anything with it come to think of it, cept weird vibes in the room of people who hadnt ever even thought of questioning our government or countrys way of life probably. Not sure that their even capable of that now that I think of it, their so conditioned into this unatural culture of ours, but we all are. Not that I was a particular expert on the subject then, and wouldnt claim to be today either. Still pretty conditioned myself into thinking this world is normal sometimes...luckily I came across Ishmael by Daniel Quinn which showed me the insanity that makes up this paved world of ours.

But I remember one of my first pep rallies that year... I didnt occur to me later, but I was standing riiiight under the flag as time came to pledge. Didnt say it or hold my arm up, unconsciously as usual, and there I was right under the flag and inevitably the energy of the stadium gravitated to me one by one Im sure. I remember seein this older blonde dreaded kid nearby(in the very back) not sayin it either and I just smiled, still unpledging as pleasently obvlious+stoned as ever. You can even look in the yearbook, find a pic of peeps in the stands lookin at me im almost 90% sure... They look like I stole their teddy bears or blankies or something....

My fiance is Native American (half Shawnee/half Cherokee) and when he was in the 5th grade he refused to stand for the national anthem, so they had the school "cop" talk to him. The cop asked him why he didn't stand and he said; "Why should I honor those who killed my people?" and the cop basically told him that he needed to "assimilate". What the fuck?

i don't believe in standing or even saying the national anthem, and i agree with your fiance, the natives were treated terribly in this country. their homes stolen, their children stolen an sent to american school where the first thing they did was cut their hair and then they had to assimilate, such bull shit. i don't believe in thanksgiving either, i don't believe in celebrating a holiday that represents the destruction of the indian nation. my spirituality is the native american beliefs. we usually go to a pow wow for thanksgiving and celebrate with the native tribes there and honor mother earth.

WTF? I don't even know what to say to that, WTF WTF WTF so many fucking things wrong with that, WHAT THE FUCK! Kill his culture then tell him to become part of our bastard non-culture. Someone needs to track down that cop today just to slap the taste of dunkin donuts out of his mouth.

That's what I tell people. As long as you got these ignorant bastards on MTV all over billboards etc. portraying blacks the way that they do, they're just not going to be taken seriously by society. I think the rich white men in power love rappers more than any other 'musicians' because whether the rappers know it or not, they're helping the man stay in power.
