An election will most likely fall in February. I think it's bloody stupid how much squabling has occurred in this minority government, thanks to Stephen Harper who apparently can't admit defeat and wants to keep the current government from making any progress, which he's succeeded in doing pretty well (not that it's not the liberals fault as well).

Everyone needs to stop bowing down to the two tier system, and give support to other parties. The Green party has become quite strong, especially in the last election. Give them your support so that one day they'll stand a chance in winning. Nothing is more important than the environment. Or you can throw your vote away to the corruption of the other parties. I think they've all proved that they can't do any good for this country, let's give someone else a chance.

And please PLEASE don't vote conservative. I don't want to become a yankee.

Don't tell me how to vote, Dude.

What may be the truth for you may not be for someone in a different part of the country. Maybe voting Green is an option for you... but it isn't for everyone else. There is not a "green party canidate" in all areas.

What everyone NEEDS to do is make up their own minds. To learn the issues and make educated choices. Telling someone what to do, how to think, isn't the answer..

I know puffy had that whole vote or die thing going down there in the great us of a, but I think one of our canadian superstars should adopt a similar slogan.

How would Mike Meyers look with a "vote n' die, eh" shirt on?

When so many stupid people are in love with the Liberals and Conservatives, I feel compelled to tell people how to vote. The smart ones won't listen to me, but they probably aren't the ones that need to be told. I'm looking at the big picture here. Go ahead and listen to the issues. They're lies. We should realize that by now. I say Green becase their platform is about the environment, which, especially in these times with mother nature reacting so much, trumps any economic issues.

It just makes me so mad that it's only those two parties that ever win. And they always bring forth the same problems. So many people are so jaded that they just vote for the charming baby kissing guy, and that's not what this is about.

If you don't want to be told what to do then don't listen, but I'm trying to make a positive difference any way I can.

I know that the environment is important, but there are a lot of other issues that people feel are important.
It's tough, because there are some things that I will agree with with one party such as native issues and education, but then there'll be other issues such as gay rights or environment.

You know what, without the environment, none of that other shit exists. When you can't grow food cause the soil and water is too polluted, your not gonna care much about gay rights.

Each vote the party gets makes it stronger and larger and a better contending force with more people involved and better ideas eventually coming forth. Its called growth. 300 people. Thats cute, but in the last election they received enough votes to run with the big guys. I think you'll hear a lot more from them in this next election, so I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss them as environmental nuts.

Yeah letting a bunch of corporate fat-cats who rip-off the citizens is a much better idea. Lets just keep voting for them.

if the NDP cant get voted in, green has no chance, theres to many people that are more concerned with, bigger issues than the environment.

not saying the environment isnt a big issue, but right now we have alot more short term problems to worry about.

    such as war

ok, so the conservatives were very against Kyoto, thats cause their main base in in the west were all the oil jobs are..the NDP and Bloc were for it [if i remmerb correctly] as well as the Liberals, but they were on thin ice as always so they had to be careful how they approached it

thats not how it works...last election, the greens had a member in EVERY riding, the only reason they weren't in the televised debates is cause the networks didnt want them in cause they didnt have any sitting members, but the other leaders said that they should be in cause they had such a wide expanse of candidates. After the election, they got over 2% ov votes, and then were entitled to 1.75$ per vote each year until the next election...

"The direction of the 2004 platform, while retaining similar ecological themes, shifted in other aspects from a radical-left to a centrist or even right-of-centre stance. An emphasis on a green tax shift which favoured reducing income and corporate taxes while increasing taxes on polluters and energy consumers created questions as to whether the Green Party was still on the left of the political spectrum, or was taking a more eco-capitalist approach.
    from wikipedia...

this means that, unlike th NDP which is for the workers and poor, the Green wil give tax breaks to large "fat cat" capitlists for not polluting while they wil be raking in more profits then

I found him! It took me 20 minutes of googling, but I found the canidate from my riding!

    It was Sigfredo Gonzalez! lol

I should say that my riding is one of the largest in the country. It's pretty much the entire south-east corner of Saskatchewan (about 300 miles across at the US border)

Sigfredo was located in the city of Estevan... about an hours drive from my home. He didn't have a election office... no campaign office, no budget. There was no mention of him outside of Estevan. None. He didn't even come to my city of Weyburn (Weyburn and Estevan are the only 2 cities, of ~10,000 people each, in this riding).

So, if he didn't come to Weyburn, he wouldn't have gone to Beinfait or Alameda, or Carlyle, or Oxbow, or Wolsely... so the people in these towns didn't know about him either. He got about 500 votes in 2002... all from people in Estevan.

I don't blame Sigfredo. I mean, he is only one man... and it doesn't seem like he had any guidance, or financial help. And, the riding is a hard one to campaign in, because of it's size. The current MP has a pilots licence and a private plane. He has gone on record as saying he wouldn't have been able to campaign without it.

I pay attention to politics.. and if I didn't know about poor lonely Sigfredo over in Estevan, well.. i doubt 60 yr old Joe Schmo Farmer-dude had a clue.
Plus.. as terriable as this sounds, well... John Smith has a better chance of winning in rural Saskatchewan than Sigfredo Gonzalez. He would be written off by a lot of older simple folks as being a forgiener... A "Displaced Person" as one of my Grandparents would have said.

There might have been a canidate, but no one knew beans about him. He was just a strange name on ballot to 90% of the people in his riding. But, it is good there was a canidate... maybe next time they'll campaign? haha

But in this election I am not going to vote because there is no Fascist party. I want to vote Fascist. I want Anarchy! I want to do anarchy like they did in France. Get pissed, DESTROY!
