Notice Mississippi is on the bottom, with the lowest IQ. Think about this, Mississippi was the most classical republican state in the United States, and probably still is. Thats really weird? You think that those who would be interested in the advancement of the community as a whole and supremacy would have a higher average IQ, but I guess they would say that we are "Oppressing" them and blame the blacks, or something. It shows that classical republicanism + intellectual advancement = insane tolitarian government. I think a classical republican society that is accepting of all kinds of people will one day rule the world. Of course, Accepting Classical Republic is an oxymoron. It would be difficult, maybe even impossible, to create one. Japans kinda the closest I think, but theres alot I don't know about Japan.
i don't know how they figured this out... but i went to highschools in hawaii and in texas, and texas definitely provided the better education, much more difficult, and i improved my SAT scores by TONS of points after coming here. hawaii's education system just plain sucks (mind you i'm talking about public schools) anyway, having said that, there is a LOT more conformity that goes on here in west texas, and kids are much more free to express themselves in hawaii... and IQ tests do give some outlook into creativity and thought processes rather than book knowledge... anyway, thanks for the link, that's interesting...
though there's also the possiblity that the iq tests ARE in fact terribly biased as so many claim. i've heard again and again how iq tests are supposed to be a measure of your ability to learn, but then have taken a test, gone off and studied a bit then come back and gotten a way higher score. int which case it's a matter of education, the quality of which is influenced by wealth in that local property taxes are usually what determines the quality of supplies and facilities for the local schools. nicer areas have nicer schools, and those places attract the higher quality educators. and why not? who truly wants to work somewhere horrible, poor, angry and depressing?
interestingly enough mississippi is also the most obese state... it'd be interesting to see other correlations colorado (#19) is the "thinnest" state of the union.....
And you think that a Politically Motivated Poll like that is completely unbiased? You think that that pollsters had no intention on making sure that those were the rexact esults they were looking for? These kinds of polls are no more unbiased than a study about the risks of smoking - paid for by Philip Morris. So I say once again... What a bunch of Horse Shit.
Interesting. Even thought IQ tests = bullshit I have always thought the democrats were more intelligent than the republicans overall and this just adds more credibility to my belief.
Although I like democrats much more than republicans...I must say... Connecticut and Massachusetts are at the top of the lists because of...DUH...Harvard, Princeton, Yale, etc. There aren't many Ivy League schools that I know of in Mississippi, Utah, or Idaho...
......there were 10 kids in my G.T. (gifted and talented, 130+ i.q. kids) class from the school where the "rich" kids went I was the only one there from my school (lower class, we actually had minorities at my school) and two from the middle class school...... money has a lot to do with the thing, maybe only because testing frequency (i.e. the only reason a really poor kid gets tested is because they are truly exceptional or anything mid below average, a lot of people higher in the socioeconomic scale just get tested willy nilly and skew the curve)
Actually this is untrue. Mississippi is classically a state of Southern Democrats. You know, the wonderful people who brought you slavery and eventually, the Civil War, the KKK, Church burnings, Church Bombings, lynchings, and longbed pickup trucks (hey, you can get 14 brother Klansmen in a longbed!) Just because Republicans are the assholes of the modern day, it was the Southern Democrats who were the assholes of yesteryear. There is a world of difference between a Democrat and a Southern Democrat.
