I got some Amy's cream of mushroom soup(cream= I should have known, lol), but turns out it's semi-condensed and needs 1/4 cup of milk added to it when cooked. If I use soy milk instead, do you think it would turn out fine? Does soy milk cook okay, like regular milk? I haven't had milk in a long time, and to be honest, it really isn't something I want to start drinking or putting it in soup again! ~Nova
more than likely : ) works in baked goods just fine, and my moms made mashed taters with it so it should work. dontcha just love soymilk? plus your not really supposed to cook soup, just warm it...
Are you vegan? I'm pretty sure that soup isn't vegan because I checked it out...but maybe I'm wrong. Anyway, soymilk should work fine, it works the same as milk in everything I've ever tried.
Yeah... that's not vegan. I don't know if you are or not, but just in case you are: Organic Cream of Mushroom Soup INGREDIENTS : FILTERED WATER, ORGANIC MUSHROOMS, ORGANIC ONIONS, ORGANIC WHEAT FLOUR, ORGANIC HIGH OLEIC SAFFLOWER AND/OR SUNFLOWER OIL, ORGANIC LEEKS, ORGANIC GRADE AA BUTTER, ORGANIC CREAM, SEA SALT, ORGANIC GARLIC, SPICES. CONTAINS WHEAT AND MILK. Butter, and cream is already in the soup.
I'm not vegan, just not into the milk anymore. Once I move off campus, I'd like to go vegan, though! Thanks for the info, guys. Now I just need to track down a pot... ~Nova
lol okay Yeah I started drinking soy milk before I went vegan too. I just liked the taste and everything better, not to mention I'm lactose intolerant.
Soy milk works just like regular milk in every recipe I've ever tried with it. Make sure you get unsweetened for cooking, though.
