I put 'Hun' with 'pet', 'dear' and 'hen' as things I find it irritating to be called. Especially online where it often comes off as patronising.

I've only ever heard straight people - girls - say it.

There is only one person I know who uses the term & I know for a fact she is very straight. She grew up around here but last time she came back visiting she was calling everyone hun. Kind of threw me at first, actually until I heard her use it on my wife too.

my ex got me into saying hon/hun whatever when we were going out...and i hated it because it was very uncharacteristic of me...but it would slip out and people would give me funny looks...yep...gooood story.

I hardly ever say "hun," and it only really bothers me when people seem to call everybody "hun." It's just not as special that way. And aren't we supposed to be the creative minority?
