it was $14 to send my sister her birthday package from Ohio to Saskatchewan. $14!!! WTF! Its only $4 to send from Ohio to North Dakota though! The extra 200KM cost $10 to ship!

well the u.s. does have some of the lowest postage rates anywhere.

i dont mind the price of stamps and since less people send out mail anyways... AND gas prices have increased, they gotta stay in business.....

probably because it had to cross a border between countries, not just because it was 200km

Things seem expensive these days, inflation sucks arse. I don't really send anything by mail these days so it's not a big deal. If I'm sending a package, it's only to Prince Albert (two hours north) so I usually just use the highway bus system because they're cheaper than post and more reliable.

Thank god for e-mail...same price (free.if ya e-mail from a library or friend's computer)and with a click of a button it gets there in few seconds. I move so much the last few yrs and I stopped filling out those change of address forms at the post office.

yeah, i know its because of the border crossing.. but seriously! $10 extra? Its not like there is really any extensive security scans or whatever! lol. It probably just some 60 yr old man in a touque, who pokes incoming packages with a broom handle. hahaha.

true... I dunno, I got charged $25 duty for the luxury of them busting open my parcel and poking around in it. Like I really wanted them to see my corset, yeesh. Shipping over the border is ridiculous in price these days

I hate regular mail. The only reason I'd ever right a letter anymore is if its something really official.

Or maybe if I was trying to be romantic.

But I can type like four times faster then I write, and I don't have to pay a dime.

I heard about that price increase for stamps--i never use snail mail anymore, except for official documents and things. all email and text messaging, but i've been texting a lot more since i got T9 (www.textfast.t9.com). there's something about the immediacy of it i really like -- kinda like quickly IMing from anywhere i am.
