Id love to help out! This sounds like a great idea for an awesome cause. The mounted police at Bonnaroo this year didnt bother anyone that I know of at all. They were just kind of there in case violence broke out (which it didnt) and they didnt really care about drugs or speaking your mind (from what I witnessed). So if it is mandatory to have poilce present...try to tell them only to react to violence, which wont be a problem at a peace fest, lol. If theres anything I can do, just let me know. Im an art major at a small university in huntsville, al. so maybe I can help with posters or something. I also know a few friends that would love to pitch in and help.
in amerika the pigs here will go after anyone that is doing anything illegal, especially drugs. thats how it is where I live anyway. so i do not think that local police would just turn their backs on the population that is smoking weed or whatever
hey, i love this idea this is awesome! but we can't do it this soon. liek you said it's going to cost $$$. so i figure if your serious & can get people to do it i'm ready. we need to get flyers up, we need to advertise this. i figure next years some time we should be able to get it going. i mean yea it's a long time to wait but we need people that are willing to donate money & to come & watch. we also need bands, cover bands, little town bands, i'm presonally in a band, but we aren't doing to great. we need a drummer & singer...i could handle the drummer & i might be able to sing. but i could paly there. it would be great if you could im me on aol or e-mail me so wecould talk about it. ohio sounds good to me as long as we have room to do this...we could build the stage. i could drive to the place, build the stage, if we were that low on money, & it's be cool. also we need the amps. amps are going to be hard to get we need big ones so the people in the back can hear. we're going to need to charge money though for them to come & see it or have a donation thing. well i dunno e-mail me or instant message me on aol. e-mail: epiphonelespaul6@hotmail.com aol: super426birdhemi
Hey i love this idea, im sorry i havent read all the ideas, im in the middle of break at band practice, so im sorry if some of these ideas are repeats, but i was thinkin my band could play there mabye raise some money for the fest mabye u can contact some real famous bands well whatever u do ill be there.
ive read some more about it sound great ill put flyers up my band will play for free, plus we have some connections, we might be able to get some big bands to play for free and some good stage equepment cheap, but im not promissing but we have some connections ill kepp u posted. i was wondering if any one will be donin fundraisers, well when we start makin more money we will send some if u can just tell me were to send it we will be glad to. all you need is love!!!!
i just e-mailed a fellow musician he wrote the song wipe out and played in his band mu, he knows people form candheat, spirt, jimmy vaughan, and alot more ill keep u posted this shit is exiting man
yes but no matter what, the bands have to play for free. check out the boards at peacefest2005.proboards27.com/index.cgi
i e-mailed merelle and got this response: "Dan Ive played many a peace rally in my time..., and lived through the 60s & 70s... If it was near where I live in Calif. it might be feasable, but being a working musician , playing for no pay dosent cut it as I have people to support and bills to pay. Maybe if it was a one day thing and nearby or trans was provided, and professionaly promoted.. Best Of Luck, Merrell" i dont know how many bands we can get without money, or professional promotion? we need to do something about this, we need the big bands to get the kids to show up. i really hope this all works out.
this is a great idea and i think it could really bring people together. setting up booths for people to sell their own hand-crafted jewelry and other things is a fantastic idea. word of mouth is good advertising- and its free. i would really like to be a part of this process. if theres anything i can do just let me no
As was said in the first post the sound/lighting/staging is going to be expensive/detailed. I wish to offer my (free) services as a the Lighting and Sound Designer and the Technical Director for this amazing oppertunity for us hippy's to show everyone what we are made of. After I graduate from High School I plan to major in Technical Theatre and get my masters in Lighting Design. Of course my services would be free, and I am sure I can get a crew of people that would help run the "show". The only expensive would be the rental of equipment. Contact me offboard and I will supply more information about how much we are looking at. Peace, love, and safety.
we will need to pay, we need the big bands to get the big turnout, and no big bands will play for free, plus we have no proffesional promoting, we really look like a bunch of kids with a dream, we will need to pay them so they belive we are serious, we need to get sponsors (its real easy to get sponsors they will give you banners and shit like that and if you put the banners up they will pay u for advertising them) they will give money to pay the talent, if we can get a big bus company as a sposnor we can get free buses from any of the company locations, i belive we can do this and if we dont get the big bands and the big turnout we wont be able to do it again, no bands will show up to play a show that didnt do well befor, and the corwds will keep getting lesser until the thing runs into the ground, we need to make sure we do this right the first time get all the advertising we can do what ever we can even if it means paying money and alot of it, at the first woodstock every one was payd and at the end of the 3 day festival they made no money they lost money, but with all the god advertisment and bands that there MONEY could buy they had a huge following, and they made a huge profit on the next woodstock because it had a good reputation, we have to pay the talnet we have to get all the ads we can we have to do wlovever we can to get a crowd, we may not make any money we may lose money but if we build a good reputation the next show will be a hit , and we will make money for the CHARITY'S. oh yea post messages on website u need to join- http://peacefest2005.tk
i heard the tickets cost $150.00 plus a $5 parking fee for woodstock 99. thats carzy. i also found this site that had stats from woodstock 69 http://www.woodstock69.com/woodstock_stats.htm
jimi morrison, you havent been with PeaceFest since it was first thought of like I have and a lot of other people have. If bands want to play for money and not for the love of the music, then they are not worth the time. just go to the forums, not the website, and check out posts there and sign up(i think you gotta sign up to read posts and threads and what not there) kjlove, it also cost a hell of alot of money for woodstock, because of all the big bands that were paid to play. misc, email lunarforest or nathan11(flowerchild) about that. thatd be great if you could do that
i belive thats true but if we dont pay no bands will come it dosnt matter how much they love music belive me i worked in the music bissness tour promoter, manager, and musician, they wont take the people that are heading this thing that seriously plus most working class musicians have familys to feed and bills to pay i didnt think much bands were going to do it and ive been talking to alot of bands and they wont take me seriously they love the idea but i always get the same response, "i wish i could do it, great idea, its to far out of the way in oiho, i my be famous but i have mouths to feed and bills to pay, if it dosnt pay im sorry but we cant do it, i wish i could and i might if it was closer to my house in california, but i cant, best of luck. " and that was what i got from john fogerty of CCR, and basically all of my conections. its just my opinion but i think they should be pay at least a small amount, these are the type of guys u need if u want national attention if u want to spread the message of peace. well maby some bands will do it im sure unknown bands will mine would love to and im sure there will be a great turnount but if you want it to be a sucsess and u it to happen again u r going to need to pay to get good artists its really not that hard when i worked as a manager my bands got paid at alot of diff fests not by the people that started the fest but by the combanys who sponserd the fests alot of the people who started these fests didnt have to pay a thing, i my be wrong i dont think so but i truly hope im proved wrong.
ah, just go to the forums and write about this. theres already a few bands that will play for free, who cares if they arent big name bands, people will be going for the music not the names.
PM ME TOO!! I'M young too, but can help...stuck here in MI want to see something happen! I actually know a great place for something
Well, we (Outhouse Moan) have talked it over, and if it was possible for us to get up there, we would play for free. Hell we played for a free recording, beer, and grass when we opened for The (original) Golden Dawn back in May. But we have to decline PF '05 b/c of our recording time right now and the fact our lead singer is moving to Colorado for a year or so. We are not breaking up though. But maybe in the next year or so we might beable to come up.
Well yes I am young and I'm not sure how much I can contribute, if anything at all, but I'd like you all to know you have my FULL support... if that helps at all. I was just talking to some friends online about this and they are all for it too. I definately think people would come even if you don't have all the biggest names and stuff.
