Ummm... when have I dodged? And when have I used the argument from silence? And even if I did, does that somehow excuse you from backing up your claims? Does it strengthen your arguments? No, it doesn't. Do you really not know how this works? If I come to you and state that X is true and then you say "prove it," my answer cannot be "go do the research." When you make an assertion and it is called into question, you have to support the assertion. It does not fall upon me to disprove or support your position. In other words, assertions are false until shown to be reasonably true. In this case, you have failed to produce anything but one abstract in support of your assertions. Compared to the weight of the current western archaeological paradigm, its really insignificant. You tell me. That's called supporting your position. Until you do, you are no better than the evangelical christians you mock and criticize for their dogmatic positions.
ummm...OK, so if Brthlahem didn't exist back then...then why is that village found so often in the OT? Josh 19:15 15 Included were Kattath, Nahallal, Shimron, Idalah, and Bethlehem : twelve cities with their villages. NKJV Judg 12:8 After him, Ibzan of Bethlehem judged Israel. NKJV Judg 12:10 0 Then Ibzan died and was buried at Bethlehem . NKJV Judg 17:7-9 7 Now there was a young man from Bethlehem in Judah, of the family of Judah; he was a Levite, and was staying there. 8 The man departed from the city of Bethlehem in Judah to stay wherever he could find a place. Then he came to the mountains of Ephraim, to the house of Micah, as he journeyed. 9 And Micah said to him, "Where do you come from?" So he said to him, "I am a Levite from Bethlehem in Judah, and I am on my way to find a place to stay." NKJV Judg 19:18 18 So he said to him, "We are passing from Bethlehem in Judah toward the remote mountains of Ephraim; I am from there. I went to Bethlehem in Judah; now I am going to the house of the LORD. NKJV Ruth 1:1 And a certain man of Bethlehem , Judah, went to dwell in the country of Moab, he and his wife and his two sons. NKJV Ruth 1:2-3 2 The name of the man was Elimelech, the name of his wife was Naomi, and the names of his two sons were Mahlon and Chilion — Ephrathites of Bethlehem , Judah. And they went to the country of Moab and remained there. 3 Then Elimelech, Naomi's husband, NKJV 1 Sam 16:4 4 So Samuel did what the LORD said, and went to Bethlehem . A NKJV 1 Sam 17:12 12 Now David was the son of that Ephrathite of Bethlehem Judah, whose name was Jesse, and who had eight sons. NKJV 1 Sam 17:15 15 But David occasionally went and returned from Saul to feed his father's sheep at Bethlehem . NKJV 1 Sam 20:6-7 'David earnestly asked permission of me that he might run over to Bethlehem , his city, for there is a yearly sacrifice there for all the family.' NKJV 1 Chron 11:17-18 7 And David said with longing, "Oh, that someone would give me a drink of water from the well of Bethlehem , which is by the gate!" NKJV 1 Chron 11:27 26 Also the mighty warriors were Asahel the brother of Joab, Elhanan the son of Dodo of Bethlehem , NKJV 2 Chron 11:6 6 And he built Bethlehem , NKJV Ezra 2:20-22 20 the people of Gibbar, ninety-five; 21 the people of Bethlehem , one hundred and twenty-three; 22 the men of Netophah, fifty-six; NKJV Neh 7:26 26 the men of Bethlehem and Netophah, one hundred and eighty-eight; NKJV Jer 41:17 17 And they departed and dwelt in the habitation of Chimham, which is near Bethlehem , as they went on their way to Egypt, NKJV are you suggesting that the 'rewriters' of the Bible actually cared enough to add statistics and all that about Bethlehem in so many places in the OT? C'mon, really! Those are only about half of the references to Bethlehem in the Tanach. If you don't believe me, look at a Tanach! the people that published english Tanachs are generally against the NT. They're Jews. How can you say it's the same book when the people, who are ORHTODOX Jews, are totally against it? Do you actually think they'd look at the Christian Bible for reference...? Just my two cents....
