animal abuse.. so its animal abuse to not feed a dog or keep it in a dirty environment right? because you've taken them in and are the ones providing their care, but then we take a look at cows and pigs and chickens- its not animal abuse to shove them into cages and make them go crazy and infest their bodies with growth hormones, and then cut them up and eat them? is that really so different from eating a dog?!!
what??? livestock are meant to be eaten....and maybe the slaughter is gory and whatnot...but how is that different from a lion maiming a wildabeast or something? it's all for survival. yea, yea, yea, so man can live minus a few steaks every year, but for real....how many people grow their own food and raise their own livestock for food? you're over reacting about a simple fact of human nature...we're omnivorous. you can't change that.
Yes, the way that livestock is treated by the meat industry is animal abuse. Absolutely. That is why I dont eat meat and I dont choose to be a part of it all. Of course there are regulations and rules and things that are supposed to prevent the animals from cruelty......but they are rarely enforced and they dont really matter much, because the animals suffer no matter what. More should be done about it.....I get a bi monthly magazine from peta that always has a new story about livestock abuse. The latest one was about pigs....talking about how when they are in the trucks in route to slaughter, they are sometimes packed so tight that thier insides literally come out of their behind......I still have trouble even thinking about it.
A simple fact of human nature? Do you know anything about the meat industry? None of what goes on is "human nature". It is abuse, it is cruel. There is a difference between the animals that are hunted in nature to feed a family.....and the millions that suffer endlessly to become a bigmac because someone thinks it tastes good with fries.
I doubt anything from McDonald's is made with actual meat, lol but nevertheless....whether mc donald's exists or not...people are still gonna eat meat...i mean...the way it's processed evolves with humans...we once rub sticks together to make fire and stuck elephants with big sticks for dinner...things change...items are mass produced (including meat) to meet the demands of our enormous population. the computer you're looking at was produced in an assembly line, along with the table and chair you're using....it's the same with food. that's the only way it can possibly supply the demand....you know...i'm not all down w/ pig's insides coming out of their butts, but....ew...i lost my appetite...
Unfortunatley that is the way most people see it....as an item. I understand what you are saying....but the feeling on this end is that animals are not items that should be mass produced for anything. We humans make it happen but that is not the way it should be. Imagine a bunch of aliens flying down from Mars and taking some of us into captivity and binding us with chains and turning us into food for themselves. Then making us have children and then they take our children and do the same to them. Just imagine if there was something out there that could consider you as an "item". Why should animals be any different? Just a silly thought
I agree Nah I don't get it eithier, there isn't any diffrence between them really. That's why I'm a veggie and go to extreme lenghts to care for my little 'furbaby'. She's veggie too (vegan in fact). I just couldn't cope with the concept of having to suppourt the cruelty of the meat industry in the name of [companion] animal welfare... God that's a paradox. Whole other ball game I know. TTFN Sage
