I was wondering if a biopic or some type of film has been made about Jack Kerouac or the Beat Generation as a whole. If not, he is long past due for a film.
Yes, a film entitled Kerouac was put out I don't know how many years ago. I think it was independently made, but my memory is rusty on that one. Anyway, I found it in a Wal-Mart bargain bin, so.....LOL. I'm pretty sure that's not the only one, either.
there are 2 that i have seen, though there are probably more Jack Kerouac: What Happened to Kerouac? and Jack Kerouac: King of the Beats they are both pretty good
There was a film made in 1980 called HEART BEAT... John Heard played Kerouac and Nick Nolte was Cassady... There was also a 1997 movie called THE LAST TIME I COMMITED SUICIDE, which was about Neal Cassady...no Kerouac in that... ...of course there's NAKED LUNCH Other than that...Francis Ford Coppola has had the rights to ON THE ROAD for years, there are always rumors that it's going to be made...but, not yet..
