    VC tried to kill me

NVA tried to do the deed

    CIA failed to succeed

    All tried, all couldn’t believe

Did my duty, served Uncle Sam

To battle for freedom, or was it just another Scam?

58,000 were delivered to the in-country slaughter

Only names remain on a wall where remembrance

Is observed by friends and family

    American Dead!!

    Killed fighting a faceless enemy

Came back to “The World” not as a hero

But made to feel like a war criminal

Labeled baby killer by an ungrateful nation

Forcing shame on me to the point of depression

Just isn’t right that some gave the ultimate sacrifice

To die in vain for the Kingdom of Vice

Home of the brave, land of the free?

    Recognize the real enemy

    Vietnam didn’t kill me

Killed from within by those seeking the

    American dream!!

Thanks. As you can probably tell, I'm a Vietnam Vet that served honorably and came back to an America that I didn't recognize before I left. Maybe, I failed to see the injustices that our country committed against it's own citizens, but now I'm older and wiser (I hope), and through poetry I am finally able to speak my mind. Keep a look out for more to come.

    Peace, Love and Happiness,

    ALI
