But not normal shoes. I want a shoe that looks like a leather (or black, stupid RadioShack dress code) dress shoe, but is actually a casual slip-on. If there's such a shoe that doesn't require socks, that'd rule. Any suggestions?

You might want to take a look at www.footsmart.com. They sell a clog made by Romika. One version is in black leather, I've owned a pair of these, they are quite comfortable by the way, with or without socks. The only real drawback is that they are open heeled shoes, but maybe your slacks could drape over your the back of your foot as a disguise.

You might also want to take a look at Zappos.com. Not long ago I purchased a shoe called a Topo slide made by Merrell. It's a slip on made of black leather, has a closed toe, and a partially open heel. This too is very comfortable for what would be defined as a regular shoe. This in fact are the only closed toe shoe I own, it's casual, but still retains a business like look to it.

I wear these to job interviews, so they should pass to work at a place like Radio Shack.

    Hope this helps.

I wouldnt work someplace where they have some crazy shoe requirement like that. I think its dumb to have some rule about what shoes you wear when you want people looking up at your face instead of down at your feet anyways. I mostly dont notice or care what people have on their feet.

that's a tough one heero, I'd look around places like Dillards, Foleys something like that . RS sucks for such anal things like employee's shoe style. Good luck, maybe something better will happen by and you can drop RS.

    peace out,

As much as I'd like to stay BF 24/7 thru the winter the reality here is it's just too cold. (17f at the moment and it's only Nov.) Any suggestions on a slip on that won't get destroyed by salt and slush. I'm wondering about those clogs with the fake fur lining. Any BFrs tried them how'd they work for you ?

Hey, I understand where you're going with this, and I'm looking around, too. Believe it or not right up to today I'm still going back and forth between barefoot and Chaco sandals. Not had cold feet yet. That will change, if this winter ever gets started! We've had temps in the teens F at night, but so far, not daytime yet.

My only problem with some slip ons is bad odor. Only way for me to avoid that is (obviously) barefootedness, or shoes with socks. In recent years, I've taken to the "no-shows" or ankle socks---another trick I learned from the younger people, and adopted.

For deep snow, I have to come up with something else. Quick. I work outside.

I haven't looked around but I better soon. It's getting cold here too. What is a Chaco sandal? You must have great circulation if you haven't been cold yet. The wet trails in the 40s (f) can be pretty chilly. I'll be sure to post anything I find that will work for us barefooters.
Keeping 'em kinda warm and bare in the newly fallen snow Arch

www.zappos.com has a massive collection of footwear with photos of everything they sell (with different angle views).
