yeah i think you are thinking of puggles. (beagle and pug mix) there is a thread about it in here somewhere.

There are a few new breed mixes now, I believe...Regis and Kelly had a show on it sometime this week(my housemate saw it and told me, I didn't even know it was on)...puggles were one of the mixes, and there were others...apparently quite cute, but VERY expensive... . Maybe they'll repeat the show sometime...

LOL once upon a time those would be called mutts, and were free to a good home.

Sure it would simple enough to breed your own. Not that I really approve, there are enough crossbreeds already alive and in need of good homes. Available from all good rescue centres.

I have a Goldendoodle. She is a fairly new type of dog. Breeders started bredding them in 1991.

The puggle could be cute I guess if you like beagles/pugs. Their eyes still look like someone is squeezing them too hard and they are ready to pop out. Plus it looks like they have a nervous condition but their ears are so cute.

All i think about is the health problems and the fact that these will soon be out of fashion and end up in the kennels.

people should learn that this breeding is cute sure but ffs think of the dogs which end up with no homes.

i would never give my money to a breeder

Hopefully, they end up with responsible people who will take care of them properly...of course, that is true for any dog (or domestic animal, for that matter). I would be concerned about health problems, but, at least in the case of the puggle the inter-breeding was to give the pug more of a nose/less in the way of breathing problems. But, who knows what else could crop up...I guess only time will tell...

Goldendoodle...that sounds cute...a cross between a golden retriever/poodle? I'd love to see one of those! :)

They're cute enough, but I don't see what's so unusual about them that I'd pay a ton of money for them.

    Thank you.

She's a character. I taught her to ring a bell when she wants to go out to do her business. She LOVES to jump and play on the trampoline. She dances with me. Peanut is very smart and thankfully very lovable. She gets hugs and kisses all day long. :)

I love your goldendoodle Laura!!!!!!!!! I want a puggle sooo bad I saw them on 60 minutes last week and fell in love. I am a hound lover to the core but they are not very good housedogs so the puggle/beagle hybrid is suppossed to be the perfect dog, much like goldendoodles.

    Thank you Lynsey.

    How are your dogs?

Goldendoodles are supposed to be supper smart like the poodle and just as loveable as a Golden. The combination between the two makes for a really nice dog, if you like large dogs. I can't believe how fast she's grown! I've never seen a dog grow that fast. Her face is changing constantly. She just keeps getting cuter.

Training has gone pretty good with her. She'd rather do tricks on command than come to me on command. She takes her time when I call her.

It's good to see you Lynsey. :)

My shih tzu does that too..."Goldie, come!" is an interesting option in her mind...I've heard that shih tzu's are stubborn, maybe that is the problem...or maybe she's just a little spoiled...

My dog daisy is extremely stubborn. she will bark to come indoors and when i open the door for her and say "daisy come on in" she will refuse. so ill close the door and go back to what i was doing and she will bark to come in again....again i open the door for her and she refuses......this can go on forever. if i leave the door open and then step away from it to where she cant see me...then she will come inside...but if she sees me near the door ASKING her to come in she just wont do it. it was so funny, once i opened the door for her and hid around the corner to see how long it would take her to come inside when she thought i was gone...she began to walk in but as soon as she saw me peek over the corner she ran back outside.

I HATE this new "fad" of mixing dog breeds. There are enough dogs in shelters right now that need new homes that are "mixed" breeds. I understand breeding full-breds to better the breed and to keep the breed going. However, creating a mutt and calling it a "designer or hybrid" and charging a ridiculous amount of money for it is absolutely asinine!
I have a pug. He is not "registered or papered". He was saved from a puppy mill. This breed is amazing. As I am sure that the beagle breed is amazing. We don't need to mess with that. If you like beagles...get a beagle from a rescue shelter. If you like pugs...get a pug from a rescue shelter. Every single breed has many rescue groups/shelters that specifically deal with that breed. And many of them are swamped with homeless dogs. If you are looking to purchase a dog from a breeder because you want a full-blooded breed, please consider looking into a rescue group that specializes in that breed.
Every so often certain breeds become "popular". Because of movies or celebrities. Take Pugs for instance. When Men In Black came out, tons of people went out and purchased Pugs because of "Frank the Pug". Then because those people didn't take the time to educate themselves on the breed, found that Pugs weren't suited for their lifestyle. And a lot of pugs ended up homeless. Same situation for Chihuahua's, because of Paris Hilton. There are many examples of that.
If you are interested in getting a new dog. I highly suggest you research the type of dog that it is and make sure it is appropriate for your lifestyle. Don't buy/adopt a dog just because it's cute or pretty. I think Huskies are beautiful, but I don't have one because they are active dogs that need an active lifestyle. I'm lazy! LOL So I have a dog that doesn't require a lot of exercise.
Sorry to rant, but this topic really gets me upset. Bottom line...if you want a dog...look in shelters and rescue groups first. Lets try to decrease the number of dogs that are homeless.
