yawn* Man i am sleepy.... anyway today I got bored so I pestered my dad to take me out somewhere, he saw a stone circle and iron age fort marked on a map a few days before so we decided to go there to take a look to see if it were owt good like. It was a typically English day.. e.g., rainy, windy, cold and overcast but when the sun broke through the clouds it was quite nice. The stone circle turned out to be a bit a let down only being four stones big and all but apparently farmers in the 18th century scampered off with em all to build farms and such like... pffttt. Anyhow the site of the old fort was quite impressive, a quite random looking hill in the middle of nowhere. It also had a cool cave nearby were a hermit lived for the best part of last century but there were campers sleeping in there when we turned up so I didn’t get any photos there. I’ve attached some photos below... This came out very dark, but if you look carefully you can see the stone circle in the background. This is just a random picture of a rock I took but it came out quite sharp so i thought that id include it. The site of the fort, it don’t look that impressive now like but back in the days it was fully built up it would have looked quite good. Under this tree archaeologists found an old burial chamber with some cool bronze age stuff in it.. I read it on a plaque aren’t I clever ^_^ This is the view when your on top of the fort sight, you can see why they chose this spot huh, with all the spikes and earth works you aint got much chance of getting up This is basically all that remains of the once great hedge.. its sad really. It the background you can just make out were the fort hill is, on the summer solstice the sun is meant to shine half over the hill through two middle stones and shine onto were the middle stone once was in the circle. and last of all one of me looking shit scared while climbing up this mini cliff thing up onto the top of the hill fort area. I am not so good with heights: S Ok, over and out (sorry for large + many photos.)
I think your photos are just so beautiful! The second one of the rock is awesome, all the colors and bits of stuff growing on them. They're all awesome, actually, they made me feel like lying down in the cool grass somewhere.. I think you've posted photos before when you and your dad went exploring, you two must be close. Very lucky! thanks for sharing.
