I've been envisioning this community my entire life, and finally feel like the time has come to manifest the dream. I am not looking for people who are going to read the following paragraphs and decide to follow them like doctrine, rather I am looking for those who already feel the same as I do on the below issues and wish to make these points the backbone of our new community. If you do not agree with one or more of the issues, I encourage you to keep in touch for networking purposes. I believe the world should be made of small, localized, self-sufficient communities that govern themselves by consensus, and that is what I wish to create. If you have similar viewpoints, I most likely support your vision, despite differences of opinion on smaller details. Communities will no doubt differ in such things across the world, but that doesn't make the solidarity we should feel with each other any less valid. Here is the picture:

This will be my home, my family, for the rest of my days- it will be where I live out my ideal lifestyle, as well as a home base and support network for the activism I'll be doing in the outside world. It will be a platform for revolution, and I am only looking for people who are willing to fight (this does not necessarily mean violently, and in fact I would prefer it not to be, but I'm not willing to completely rule it out) for what we've created when someone comes to knock it down in the name of capitalism and democracy.

This community will be 100% self-sufficient. We will not farm, but live in a region and with an implemented person/acre ratio that allows us to survive only off of what is naturally given to us by the earth (spreading of native seeds that have been depleted, etc, will of course be necessary). Certain things will be brought in from the outside that we haven't produced, and are not necessary for survival, but are necessary for communication, etc, which will help greatly along the path of revolution.

We will be free of animal slavery in all forms. We will be a biocentrist community, believing in the equality of all living beings, be they human, dog, bee, or blade of grass.

Our children will be communally raised. Women will nurse babies in rotation, and men will not claim any one child as their own, but the children will learn from everyone and bond with whichever person(s) they naturally feel connected to. However, these issues are mostly futile for the time being, since we will not physically birth children until the population of the earth decreases by millions. We will adopt.

We will be free of racism, ageism, speceisism, sexism, etc. This will be a community dedicated to love, openness, and diversity in age, gender, sexual orientation, race, spiritual beliefs, etc. This will be a sex-positive environment and all forms of sexuality (excluding those that inflict harm on others, mentally, physically or emotionally) will be welcomed and encouraged. Open relationships will be prominent and encouraged, but if two people feel especially connected, they are welcome to announce and celebrate their dedication to one another and chose to be monogomous.

We will be consensus-based. We will not support borders or races or governments, but will come to consensus-made decisions that will be enforced due to the fact that if you don't agree with them, this isn't the right community for you. They will be enforced by the entire community, not a select group.

We will not support oppressive, patriarchal, mind-numbing, doctrine. No one will belong to any organized religion, but spirituality will be encouraged. The earth will be respected and celebrated, but those who don't wish to participate in ritual, etc, will be just as welcome as those who do.

We will fight for compassion and revolution (again, not necessarily violently) through speaking, writing, direct action, and all other forms of activism that communicate with the outside world. I hope to eventually declare independence from any nation.

We will work consiously to create an environment where gender, age, and all other generalized features do not factor in to the judgement of a person. Maturity and capability have nothing to do with gender or age. Correlations do not provide reason for exclusion.

I am hoping for houses that are more primitive in style, and don't require killing trees- i.e. adobe, twigs and mud, etc.

There are still many issues up for discussion- this is our backbone. maddy@respecttheplanet.com for more information.

    Very interesting.
I agree with most of the points you make,
If you have the materials and time necessary to make this possible, then go for it!
