OTTAWA (Reuters) - The Canadian government should ban U.S. rapper 50 Cent from touring Canada later this year because he has a criminal record and glorifies gun violence, a legislator from the ruling Liberal party said on Wednesday. 50 Cent, who was once shot nine times on the street in a gang incident, is the star of the recent film "Get Rich or Die Tryin,"' a fictionalized and violent portrayal of his career. Junior Foreign Minister Dan McTeague said the rapper's message was inappropriate at a time when Toronto, Canada's largest city, was experiencing a surge in shooting deaths. "I do want the laws of Canada to apply to anybody who is a criminal, an admitted criminal, as Mr Curtis Jackson -- known as 50 Cent -- is. Under our laws ... he would be deemed criminally inadmissible," he told CBC television. more: http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20051123/wl_canada_nm/canada_leisure_canada50cent_col_1 LOL, but look at your damn government. Preventing a celebrity from performing because of his fucking songs. (If he were a country singer he'd be be allowed in, obviously.)
Still, that's not the point. We have rappers performing wherever the fuck they like, because it is their right.
Shit yeah man, he has a criminal record, you cant cross the borders with a criminal record its unsafe for everybody.. Like if i had a criminal record i couldnt corss borders.. Why should 50?? just cuase he's a celebrity?!?!? thats BULSHIIT!!
Yes, it is. Tons of people cross the borders every day that have criminal records. Let's see...The Grateful Dead did, as did The Rolling Stones, as did...well...too many to name. Having a criminal record doesn't trap you in a country forever. What the fuck are you talking about? Maybe if he were on parole or something, but get real.
They dont do it all the time, but one time my dad couldnt get into the states cause he had a criminal record... Its a pretty common thing... believe me ive done alot of border crossin and having criminal records Lmao Oh and RAR!!!!
their right given to them by the u.s. constitution. canada is not under the jurisdiction of the constitution. and canada does have a law against letting criminals enter their country.. however, if i were prime minister, i'd keep him out for moral reasons.
Canada needs to do something about its surging gun violence, but it doesn't want to do what needs to be done - basically identify all the Jamaican gangbangers in Toronto and send a bunch of guys in with guns to arrest them and deport them. They're as good at hand-wringing and "what did we do to deserve this" as the French. So instead they force Albertans to register and confiscate their squirrel guns to the tune of billions of dollars. Go figure. And apparently, ban 50 cent. I'll weigh in with my opinion of his work when I can understand what the mushmouthed little cretin is saying "wupubinda club haba dama nama blow ma mine ya ma nan have a jabba gabba ram la dam"
Toby Keith has a song about going and meeting two blond twins in a bar. Toby tells 'em he can only sleep with 'em once. Then he gets in a bar fight. I think someone might die. The difference? Toby Keith isn't black? Who knows. We got some people bitching about this in the US too. How many violent scenes in movies that aren't starring succesful black men don't raise a ruckus?
Now we're getting somewhere.... before you said people with records can't cross borders at all. Anyway, he obviously needs a permit to cross, but Canada's lame ass liberal party is urging them not to grant it for him. He's a damn performer, not some thug looking for some drive-by action. I don't really like his music, but COME ON CANADA.
Its so crazy you can be a millionaire in music off of bad poetry and stolen music... Its just incredible to actually see one of these popular 50 cent type music videos... they make me kind of depressed theres no content in those things... fuckin stupid..
i thought the whole point of this thread was the fact that canada doesnt want to let 50 perform in the country...
RE: Toby Keith has a song about going and meeting two blond twins in a bar. People don't get shot at Toby Keith concerts.
