Mine are Coldplay, The Darkness and The White Stripes. They all have more of that 70's sound than other musical acts of this decade.
The White Stripes are great. I also love Franz Ferdinand, The Streets, Sigur Rós, The Thrills, The Libertines, Goldfrapp, Razorlight and Devendra Banhart.
White Stripes Devendra Banhart Microphones Iron & Wine Andrew Bird Animal Collective The Decemberists The Arcade Fire The Fiery Furnaces Wilco Sufjan Stevens Spoon Deerhoof Broken Social Scene The Books The Black Keys Joanna Newsom My Morning Jacket The Shins Sigur Rós Six Organs Of Admittance
The Out Crowd, their singer (Matt Hollywood) used to be in the Brian Jonestown Massacre and wrote some of that band's best songs. Their website has a few songs. I guess they sound like BJM and the Dandy Warhols with a little more of a country influence. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, their new album sounds like a Stonesy/Bob Dylan kind of thing, it's fucking great.
Devendra Banhart, Jens Lekman, The Flaming Lips, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Bob Dylan, The John Mayer Trio, Of Montreal, CocoRosie, Vashti Bunyan, Paul McCartney, Neutral Milk Hotel, The White Stripes, Marty Stuart, Animal Collective, Oasis, Kate Rusby, Marah, Ringo Starr, Joel Harrison, The Redwalls, The Arcade Fire, Edith Frost, Merle Haggard, The Kills, Keith Urban, The Red House Painters, The Fiery Furnaces, The Dandy Warhols, The Dresdon Dolls, Jack's Mannequin, The Rolling Stones, Fiona Apple, Tori Sparks, Neon Blonde, The Sights, The Silver Jews, Enya, Ani Difranco... elliott smith would be #1 or #2 if he was still alive.
neutral milk hotel broke up before 00's...i love them to death, but dont know how you came up with that and vashti bunyan, elliott smith and silver jews are other good choice's...havent gotten the new silver jews album, need to
Dark Fortress, Watain, Dresden Dolls (omg Soulrebel you typoed that one), Autumn, Forefather, and also my favourite Bathory album (Nordland I), even though it's mainly an 80s band, is from 2003.
well i dont know if they offical "broke up", but they havent created an album since "in the aeroplane over the sea"...jeff magnum maybe made a live album or something, dont remember...but they havent made anything in over 8 years, i believe. jeff magnum has made some live apperinces this year, one with olivia tremor control, and another with elf power...so maybe he is slowly coming out of hiding
ah yeah, that could be it, i tend to get NMH and OTC mixed up. In the Aeroplane Over the Sea is one of the greatest albums ever... best of the 90s?
