ATTN: people who filter their joints!

How do you do it and what do you use? Please explain the filter tip process to me.

P.S. I think it's a euro thing right? Because I don't know anyone in amerika who does it.

 

get an index carde cut a strip like 1/2 an inch by maybe 3 inches, and roll it up, then stick it in the end of your joint

 

Meh, I dont filter my joints.

 

It's not really a filer per se. It's more like a roach. It just gives the joint some definition and makes you roll it better. It burns better. But that's just me. I can't roll without one. Yeah it's a Euro thing.

 

Just rolled a filter, I thing this will set things better! Do you use regular sized papers like zigzags? or do you double/use kingsized?

and yah it is actually a roach and not a filter because it doesnt filter anything.

 

A strip of card rolled up is called a roach over here, I roll my joint first, then I put my roach in one end and twist the other. The roach just stops the end of the paper losing shape and going soggy, it keeps it nice and round instead of flatteing out.
You can also buy proper filter tips, they are loose in a box and look exactly the same shape and size as the filter on the end of a cigarette, they take away the harshness and filter out some of the nasty tar in the tobacco

 

Yeah you can buy tips at a store, they're like a buck for a pack of 50...they kind of resemble the IDE cables inside of a computer (for those of you who don't know wtf that is...it's basically the big thick usually gray cord that runs from the CD drive to the big motherboard looking thing...called a motherboard haha) yeah, it doesn't really filter anything but does help to catch little bits of weed from getting into your mouth, keeps the shape etc etc

What we do instead though is just take a key or something and leave about a centimeter of nothing just paper in between the end of the weed and the end of the paper, and then fold that inside of itself like...3 or 4 times until you have a nice thick inner wall and it works pretty much the same, just pinch it a few times and you should have a nice, strong filter looking thing (like the one from fear and loathing on his cigs, jsut smaller)

 

^i can only do that with blunts, and it only takes about one time folding it on itself.

i like to use the roach/filter tip thing, but only when i have a lot of pot to work with...small joints dont need one, ime, and it messes up how i roll them. however if i'm using a really large paper, such as a king sized kulu, i'll almost ALWAYS use a roach.

its definitely not a european thing, its just less common in america. but i do it and know a number of others who do here...it's catching on, just slowly.

a big advantage is that you can smoke the entire joint from end to end and never need a clip or hurt your fingers. of course, as it gets closer to the tip it will start tasting like the cardboard is burning, so i still tend to put it out a little bit before, but still...i roll some pretty damn near perfect joints every once in a while using big papers, a lot of pot, and sometimes just a little tobacco...always rolled into a cone shape and with the cardboard roach in it.

 

i first used a filter when i was in amsterdam............

now that im back i still use a filter........
it keeps the pot from getting in my mouth

 

I use em ever since I started rolling, and I live in the states. It just lets you finish all the weed.
