Hi everyone, I was hoping someone can give me a clue as to what might be going on. I woke up this morning feeling fine. But all of a sudden when I got out of the shower and started getting dressed I got this awful pain in what felt like my uterus or something. It felt like it does when I am about 1 week before my period. However, I'm about 2 1/2 weeks before it now. And that pain usually only lasts a few minutes, this pain has been for about 3 hours now. It only hurts when I walk, if I'm sitting here at my desk I'm fine. Some background in case this is useful in any way. First I've gone off my birth control pills (I was on them for about 7 years) because I think they were making me have bad mood swings so I wanted to see if going off of them would help. This is the first month without them, and again it has only really been 2 weeks. Tuesday I had really bad kidney pain due to all of the hot tea I was drinking. So for that I flushed my system with lots of water for all day Wednesday and I took advil for it Tuesday night. I was fine Wednesday. Like I said the pain is only when I'm moving and it feels like my insides are going to fall right out. Am I going crazy or does anyone have a clue what this could be?
Perhaps you are ovulating? I tend to have period-like cramps accompanied with sharp stabbing pains during my most fertile times. If you are due for your period in about 2 weeks, then ovulation is in the forecast.
Maybe, that is what I thought at first because that is what it felt like, but before it has never lasted this long. I'm wondering if it is just more painful now or I can feel it more because I'm off the birth control. You know like how your cramps decrease with BC pills. Well, I know it isn't cramps because it isn't where I get cramps, it feels like something is inside poking me and it shouldn't be. And we haven't had sex in at least 3 weeks so I know it doesn't have to do with that. I have had this feeling before, but it has never lasted this long or felt this bad. maybe I should go back on the pills. I will give it another month and see what is going on. I just wish it would go away. I have to go to the gym tonight and I can't be bouncin around when it feels like my insides are going to fall right out.
go see a doctor seriously, pains like that can be a sign of bad things, like maybe endo or something. mystical_shroom knows more about it than I do, but it's still no ta good thing. sharp pain kinda sounds like the whole cyst-rupturing thing i've heard mention of before.
Yeah, please go see about it. Even if you are just ovulating. . .better to be safe. I hope you get better soon! My thoughts are with you!
Hmmm wow. I didn't think it could be that serious, but ok if you think I should. Hell I've got insurance so I might as well call the doc and see whats up. LOL what's up doc. It hasn't affected my sense of humor yet! It has been all day and the pain has subsided a bit because I took two Tylonal this morning when I got to work, but I can still feel it. Doc is out to lunch at the moment, good for me though she has open scheduling. I might get in this afternoon. Thanks for all of your help. I'll keep you all posted.
Could be an ovarian cyst, endo, ovulation, uterine cysts, a lot of things. I get ovarian cysts an they are usually at their most painful midway through my cycle.
Ok, so by the time I got home from work last night the pain was pretty much gone. Woke up today and nothing. I know I still need to go see the doctor, but I was going to wait until next week when I can take a vacation day. So, I still find this quite odd, you all still think it could be all of those things that were mentioned? I like not being on the pill so hopefully I won't have to go back on it.
i wouldn't freak over the cysts too badly, though. tons of women get them, and typically they're not dangerous. but check it out anyway. you never know.
I hope you are feeling better. If the pain comes back, or you get other symptoms, please see the doctor again. My first reaction was "appendicitis." But it may be cysts or other things. Please follow up with the doctor, honey.
Oh I forgot to let everyone know: it was nothing. Just ovulating. Went to the doc and everything came back fine. She said it was probably more intense than I'm used to because I went of the birth control. She said once my body gets back to normal (ha) it shouldn't feel as bad, but if I want to go back on BC pills that will help out. I'm not sure yet so I'm going to go another month without the pills and see what happens. Thanks again for all of the help everyone!
