seems to me the only real problem is the baby, aside from that your girl friend broke up with you in a shitty way but you seem able to deal with it, so if she is pregenant and sais that the baby is yours have tests done to make sure.

I've never heard of anyone 'signing' a birth certificate to be the father and I have 2 kids. Must be an American thing.

Since you are not married, the law does not assume you are the father. She would have to prove it in court and the court would force you to have a DNA test.
