a couple weeks ago, in art class, we had an "art-off" between the two art survey classes. well, we lost just because there are a few slackers in my class. even though we lost the mural was still amazing. it was all in stippling and i worked twenty times harder than the rest of my class. i went back and filled in places that needed to be darker or more detailed. i was going to ask my teacher if i could have it if she wasnt going to do anything with it. today she asked in class if anyone wanted it and i immediatly raised my had and said that i would take it. this one guy also raised his hand for it (honestly he was one of the slackers in the class). the only reason i didnt get the mural was because he used the excuse "well she already got 25 extra credit points for it". its so unfair. i worked so hard on that. it made me feel like i accomplished somthing really great...and now im never going to get to see it again:(

This may not make you feel better but I love the idea of "temparty art" When I was young I saw a man construct a biodegradable "fence" of fabric that the wind reclaimed. When I lived in Guatemala people worked very hard for days on these amazing "alfombras" colored sawdust carpets across the parade ruit that was just to be trampled. "Madalas" by the hands of the monks are tossed in the river. It is another level of creation. I'm sorry you didn't get t keep the mural but your hard work wasn't for nothing...even if it was fleeting.

Don't worry-you can always create and that's something that slackers can't do.

    Phoenix,
Hopefully, the joy is in the creation of the piece. Maybe you can keep a picture of the mural to remind you of your work. I'm sure you'll be creating many more wonderful things in the future!
