not really.... I'd say Bob Dylan is the Bob Dylan of the 70's and Neil Young is the Neil Young of the 70's. Apples and Oranges kind of thing.

could be....but then you see that Dylan released Blood On The Tracks in '75, which was and is such a great, great album...but then again Young is a influential musician/songwriter...I think it's better to say that he's the Canadian Bob Dylan.

Neil Young is a great writer, but he aint no Bob Dylan. Nobody is their own country's Bob Dylan... nobody.

Neil Young never made a movie like Renaldo & Clara.. and Neil Young just aint no Bob Dylan! geez.. not that Neil Young is bad or anything, but you must not have heard much of Dylan or Young, water_baby....

    what else is new

and throughout the 70s Dylan released New Morning, Planet Waves, Blood on the Tracks, and Desire.. along with a few other good albums. The 4 I named are some of his best.

    taken from: http://www.thrasherswheat.org/jammin/dylan.htm

In an extensive interview in TIME Magazine, in September 2005, interviewer JOSH TYRANGIEL asks Young who's the best musician he has ever seen and the standard for what he does?
    • YOUNG: "Bob Dylan, I'll never be Bob Dylan. He's the master. If I'd like to be anyone, it's him. And he's a great writer, true to his music and done what he feels is the right thing to do for years and years and years. He's great. He's the one I look to. I'm always interested in what he's doing now, or did last, or did a long time ago that I didn't find out about. The guy has written some of the greatest poetry and put it to music in a way that it touched me, and other people have done that, but not so consistently or as intensely. Like me, he waits around and keeps going, and he knows that he doesn't have the muse all the time, but he knows that it'll come back and it'll visit him and he'll have his moment."

Neil Young writes about what he feels inside whereas Bob Dylan writes about what he sees around him. Thats the main difference between the two I think. Dylan writes better lyrics, but I prefer Neil's style overall. I prefer his songs. I can't bring myself to say he's better than Dylan though. Bob Dylan just does something to you when you listen to him.

You can't compare Neil Young to Bob Dylan. Neil Young isn't even in the same league as Bob Dylan

Maybe not, but if anyone is even coming close to Dylan, it's Neil.

Yeah I know.... He had to force himself to stop listening to Dylan lest he become too much like him.

Its incomparible how could you say neil is bob dylan in the 70's when he did stuff like tonights the night and rust never sleeps, i have never heard bob do stuff like that.

but i do see neil trying to be like bob dylan in some of his lyrics like in ambulance blues he sing for 8min jumping from topic to topic like dylan would do.

i think neil also took chance dylan never took, if you look at the 13 albums he did (or was involved in- CSNY and stills young band) no 2 are alike, and he took some big chances with his fans by releasing it. dylan changed his sound, but never as much as neil.
