I heard a while back from someone that Poppies can be grown indoors under 24hr light and will produce mini-poppies in half the time......sounds a bit fishy to me...can anyone shed some light on this...pun not intended
why not you can grow pretty much anything hydroponically. I saw a some pictures of a indoor opium poppy grow. They appeared to be producing fine. I can't remember what book that was in. Since poppys tend to flower in the summer I would think a 18 x 6 light cycle would be best for forcing flowering early, just make sure the plant will be able to suport the pod first.
I'm just growing a whole bunch indoors, with no special lights. What can I say? They're still tiny, but seem to be fine...
Pardon my ignorance, but how do you get the opium? Is there an extensive extraction process involved?
hey jaybird, when the pods grow thich you lance them by slashing them witha pin, the white sappy material that dripps out is scrapped of with a razor blade, when dried you have opium!! the greatest drug in the world.
opium flowers smoked? me and my buddy grow poppies for the opium, whenever we get a fair amount we have one of those religous experiences where we lay out in the woods and get intoxicated.
Its only a certain species of poppy that works correct? does anyone know the name of the species you want to buy when getting your seeds Mike...
Thanks... The only opium I've ever had was something called red rock opium and then someone else said that thats not really opium at all? I dont know the truth I guess, whats Red rock opium compared to if I lance pods of the papaver Somniferum and collect the goo that way. thanks again. Mike...
As far as I know, red rock is bunk shit sold as opium. I could be wrong though. Real opium is nice. I have only had it once and it was mixed with weed. We mixed approximately 1g of opium with some weed and rolled a blunt. Definitely a more relaxed, warm, and euphoric high. Very mellow.
Red rock is fake, as well as most 'opium' sold on the streets. It is possible to buy incense that looks smells and tastes like opium. People will even tell you that it got them wrecked "i was so fucked up" blah blah... argh it's annoying cause then you smoke it and feel nothing and you're just like wow the masses let me down again, what a surprise.
it certainly is. if you know someone who craves any drug he can get his hands on, swears up and down that red rock really IS opium and that he gets real high off it (no matter how you try to persuade him otherwise) and you also just so happen to know where you can buy 50g of dragons blood incense for about 7 bucks at some bead/incense store he's never heard of, then you can generally make some quick pocket cash off him by telling him that though you still dont believe its really opium, you have a hookup for red rock and you'll sell him 50g for about 80 bucks... or at least i would imagine that scenario would work.... ok, so i'm not proud of that. but i did make a good bit of cash that way, and he was getting it cheaper from me than from anyone else, and he loved it. i'd told him so many times what the deal with red rock is, but he doesnt believe it. hell, maybe it DOES get him high. we don't know that theres no little known slightly active drug in dragons blood incense...anyway, i never once claimed i was getting him opium and made it quite clear i thought the shit was nasty and i wouldnt smoke it....he still kept wanting some more once in a while though. anyhow, real opium is made from Papaver somniferum poppy pods. these are not only used for opium production, but also for decorative use (dried poppy pods are common in flower arrangements, wreaths, and other crafts), and for use in harvesting poppy seeds for culinary use. not only can you buy the seeds online, you can buy them at almost any garden store, walmart, etc. also, you can buy jars full of poppy seeds at the grocery. i dont know about the viability of other commercially available culinary poppy seeds, but mccormick brand is quite capable of growing out flowers. many companies claim they only use specially hybridized "low alkaloid" plants, but people who have grown out culinary poppy seeds do report getting perfectly usable opium from them anyway, even if it isnt the best. however, it IS illegal to grow poppies, and you CAN be busted for it if there is any evidence that you're harvesting opium or know they contain scheduled chemicals. they are such common ornamentals and look similar enough to legal varieties of poppy that people overlook them, dont know they're potential, or simply dont enforce the rules because they dont really think grandma's poppy garden consitutes drug manufacturing. however, a 20-something hippy growing beds of poppies would look pretty suspicious kneeling among them scraping the pods while holding a bowl to put the opium in.... people can and have gone to jail for poppies. just because its legal to sell the seeds doesnt mean you can just grow them without worry. hence indoor cultivation.
No need to feel bad nesta lol. People ignorant enough to ingest substances and know nothing about them deserve to be played. I've seen a lot worse markups than that around here lmao, and some people actually pay it. Just shows how big a percentage of drug users aren't educated about drugs in general.
HAH! Poppies are perfectly legal to grow in Norway! Illegal to make opium of it or to smoke them... Wait! I don't know if smoking dried pods is illegal!... Phun! Svensken: Bare kom over til Norge og kjøp noen frø, så planter du rundt 10stk.+ til våren. Da har du nok til et par ganger... Du vil nok merke noe av en og, men lite! PS: Everybody: You can get MADLY addicted to opium!!
