Any tactics used by Skip are on Skip.
I'll only answer to assertions made by myself, which I believe I addressed in my last post.

(and "try again" is my personal arrogance, not one of nationalism :) )

    ''Hey G.W.B.

Don't you think it's time to listen to the other 6,150,397,366 people on this planet.''

What subject do you think it is time that GWB should listen too ?....

I never said anything about the world listening to GWB.

    Buy a newspaper.
Cut out the headlines to most articles.
    Throw on ground randomly.
    Pick one out.

The Kyoto protocol has nothign to do with deforestation, it has to do with CO2 release.

China and India are exempt from carbon caps under Kyoto, and the EU has failed to reduce any CO2 emissions, as are many nations who signed the Kyoto.

In the past 5 years, the US's CO2 emisions have fallen .8%... not as much as kyoto asks for, but more then the status indicators for most of the nations which have signed Kyoto. Particularly Mediterranean and eastern European countries, which have signed but have seen an increase in CO2 in the past 5 years.

The US also imports almost no lumber from nations that are having a deforestation problem, the only nation we import much lumber from is Canada, which uses responcible lumbering practices.

Some of the EU nations ae doing a lot to fight CO2 releases, like the UK and the Scandinavian countries.

But one way the UK is doing that is by building more nuke plants. I'm in favor of this, but are you? If not that point doesn't carry much weight.

Also the 25% of the worlds resources only refers to energy consumption, which is also why our GDP is so high. The only other nations with a higher per capita GDP are Luxemborg and Norway, and they also have among the higest energy consumption.

Energy consumption is good, look at the nations in the world with the lowest energy consumption for proof of this. We just have to look at new ways to produce energy without causing enviornmental damage.

I've always felt comfortable traveling. Usually the people who are too judgemental to look beyond nationality are the kind of people I don't like associating with.

Norway comes in 4th, though tied with third, US is 2nd, by $100 :D Damn Luxembourg, winning by a gap of $18,800. :$

I've never meet anyone from Luxemborg, but when I do, I'm going to borrow some money. :D

To support my thesis of energy consumption being good.

Compare energy consumption per capita to HDI. Looking at the bottom listings is more telling.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_development_index

The nations with the lowest energy consumption have the worst stands of living.

Like I said, we just need to invest in better ways of producing energy. I vote fusion, but in the mean time, traditional nuclear power is pretty copasetic.

America needs to invest more money in ecological protection for sure, mostly in energy research, but many ecological problems we don't rank that high in. For such an industrial nation we manage our waste pretty efficiently. The US, Japan and the EU are leading the world for investment in energy and transportation research. We also have more protected lands then anyone else. Cept Russia, but really they have so much space they aren't using anyway.

Our research now will help out greatly ease the enviornmental burdens of burgening economic powers such as China, India, and Brazil. It's not all bad news.

And I think most people outside the USA have been really nice too me, I've gotten a couple people who wanted to talk politics when I was traveling, but it was all civilized. I think a few people on the internet just get hostile cause they don't have much social interaction. No one in this thread really, but I've dealt with it on this forum before. Like I'm responsible for every policy descion the government makes anyway.

then again, maybe their all nice cause they hear I'm from Texas and they think I'm packing. :D

I do believe China's standing army is still larger then the population of the U.S.

Therefore, my training during the 80's in case of Soviet attack was not a waste of time...

    I can't say any more...

  14. yeah, if you aren't having it's waste put in an earthquake prone volcano in your backyard.......

China's army is about 2.5 million people now, about double ours, but they are reducing it's size and increasing itss funding to bring their army into the 21st century. Chinas ability to extend their arms beyond their border is very limited.

If they drafted every male of military age, there would be more then the population of the US, but they couldn't even arm a quarter of that. There'd also be now way to move that large of an army.

That size makes a China invasion impossible, but nuclear weapons already mean that even if they had a ten thousand man army.

Plus they are our second largest trading partner, so war will never happen. Large trading partners don't go to war in the 21st century.

There are certainly better things to do with the nuclear waste.

But Yucca is a dead volcano. The nuclear containers are far too protective for even heavy seimic activity to disrupt. There is a water table underneath the proposed facility, but most eologist have said even if a dramatic climate shift happened, there would be enough tuff to prevent any leakage from reaching the water table.

Also, even the Yukka mountain range has been used for several hundred detonations, and will never be used for non nuclear uses anyway.

  19. didn't they once call (I know I'm gonna mispell this) kilouea a dead volcano?
