Earlier on, I had told laura-the-flowergirl that I'd take one of her Halloween pics and alter it via Photoshop. It took me a while to complete this little project, but here it is... I have already gotten her approval on this, so I'm a happy camper.
Thanks for the compliments, people. Well, let me give you a little info on the pic, entitled "Laura on Octagon Alley"... The original image is actually smaller than this, but I had to make it wider for the wings to fit in. The background is totally changed except for the brick wall in the middle. I found a few alleyway pictures, including the model set for the "Leaky Cauldron"(I was looking for Diagon Alley when I came upon this) from the Harry Potter movies, and the alley from some university. To your left is the merged image of one of the alley way pics(which I used as the "frame", if you will) and the Leaky Cauldron pic, and the right one is the same alleyway pic(the frame) combined with the university alleyway. As for the wings, I'd look for a pair of decent wings and found a few images: eagles, seagulls, black stork... The one I ended up using was the wings of a black stork. Since this was for Halloween and Laura was going for the dark look, I decided against the white wings she'd otherwise look fabulous with. I also changed the color of the wings to match her hair color, so as to make them look like they are actually a part of her body. Well, as much as the little yellow wings she was wearing on the original pic were really cute and all, I thought a sweet girl like Laura deserved a set of real wings. The finishing touch was one of the Photoshop effects called "poster edges". This option can make a photographic image look a bit like a painting. I thought it would be a good effect to use in covering up any unnatural-looking "imperfections" caused by layering images after images. Plus, it would make the pic look like a painting from a magical world, where winged witches and mighty wizards prosper. So you could imagine, in this pic, she is a young, beautiful winged witch who's on this section in the magical city called Octagon Alley, and some artist has captured the moment and her beauty in the form of a painting. Anyway, I'm so glad you like the pic, Laura. *hugs back*
