Could somebody please help out here? My laptop seems to NOT LIKE microphones. I've tried 5 or 6 different ones, and they all amounted to nothing. I already tried: -removing the mute check mark -put a check mark for recording from microphone -put the microphone soundbar(?) up to make the speech louder -tried using a recorder on my computer -Gone to control pennal>sounds and audio -and did a hardware check for all the microphones ( none of what brought results) It's really irritating! it just doesn't seem to work no matter what I do with it! my soundcard is: Realtek AC97 Audio System:Win. XP german ( doubt that changes much except terminology) It seems to do EVERYTHING EXCEPT the microphone. Everything! It seems to be fine until you get to that part. Any help is appreciated. thanks! ^^ ~Ryu
Try a different program. Go to sourceforge and download audacity Set the source to microphone. Also most computer mic jacks are mono but some computers have stereo jacks. Make sure your mic is compatable. Also go to control panel and open the sound effects manager. then go to the S/PDIF Output tab. Make sure it is not checked "Output Digital and Analog" If it is, that locks the input source as stereo mix. Try one of the other settings. Mines set to No Output Also try setting your recording source to line in or system mixer and plug the mic into the line in jack (usually the light blue one) if your notebook has a line in jack. And then try it both ways, see if one or the other works
