Personally, I would like one day of peace. I would really like an entire week of peace. A season of peace is a goal of mine..... Moments of peace, I'll have to make due with. In this eternal struggle of Birth-disease-death, (samsara) how can an eternal soul find peace in a world of chaos??? I light candles, I burn incence, I chant, yet there are troubles at every turn.....yet, if i want the troubles to cease I must increase the fire of chanting, and in turn, my troubles increase... so I take shelter of chanting, and MORE TROUBLES....... So I have all these personal struggles, we all must.....and we all seem to be wanting peace......yet we continue to identify ourselves as "american" or "french" Or "chinese" failing to identify ourselves as HU-MAN...so instead of looking at ourselves for our source of misery (karma), we blame others, others gods, anything, just so that we can blame our faults on others........ So, now the stage is set for another WAR. Another blame game. So Voting is considered tacit concent........that means karmic Implication. So, Too, is owning or renting a home as a citizen.....of a karmically poluted culture......How? Why? Come on Think about it. Phone company Electric Company Oil Company Sewage Company Mortgage Company Credit Company Department of Moter Vehicles Drivers Licence (Id Card) How about all of those Magical symbols on your dollar bill? Every Coin, every Bill, is loaded with magical consequences at the exchange of EVERY penny. I don't think this world is meant to be peaceful. The only beings that are peaceful are the benificiaries of all the war torn economies...... Peace must come after the miseries Peace must be a reward Peace must be attained Love-in-eWE Boomer Samsara Dava nala lita loka........ Tranaya Karuna Ganaganatvam Praptasya kaluna gunarnuvasya Vande Guror Sri Charanaravindam
there's a man who made a documentry called "peace for one day" he went around and asked all the "world leaders" to pick one day and declare peace the whole day, call cease fires and the whole thing. The pre-school I teach at heard about it (one of the moms is friends with the guy) and so we had peace month in september, taught the kids all about peace and what it means, asked what it meant to them, did meditation, the whole deal. Then on the day he suggested in the documentry, we had a peace march with the whole school, it was really beautiful. I think (and yes, I'm naive and idealistic, but I like me that way) that if we can take it upon ourselves to teach as many young people about peace, how to attain it within yourself and within society, then I think we have a chance at someday seeing peace. The kids still sing "One Love" and end arguments with a comprimise and a hug, so I say there's always hope somewhere. (sorry, I know it's a little off topic of what you were saying, but I figured it would be nice to put it out there anyway :0)
the problem is that the world leaders do not really want peace, they make too much money on war and keeping people down under their thumb. the only way i know to achieve peace is for everyone to protest and be activist for peace. get invovled with peace movements and websites like this one. write letters to your congressman, the president and government leaders and let them know we will not stand for their corruption. that's how we did what we did in the 60's and 70's peace movement. hippiewise POWER TO THE PEOPLE
Thats why you did what you did when you did.... And we thank you....... seriously....when I think of the sacrifices and miseries endured by our elders.... I get by with a little help from my friends.... You tolerate us..... We love You *boomer
Peace, I believe starts inside with your own perception and enlightenment.....not outside your spectrum (global/ government scale) then you can begin to work outwards touching others with positivity...meanwhile nourishing your own self with others who hold a thread of this unbreakable fabric that blankets our pure spirits...It has always been a rational and sensible idea to be kind and extend a helping hand to others....just my thoughts friends....peace to you
paix, that is beautiful. the youth are the best hope. hippiewise, you are correct, peace is not profitable. my first thought on this topic was what terrapin said, i can only find it inside myself, the world will not give me peace. we can all only do our part. If we influence others as we go, that is beautiful. some people do not want peace, but that doesn't mean we can't try. My gut feeling is that humans are not a peaceful race in general, but I am thankful for those that try to rise above that.
It depends what you mean by peace. Someone told me once that either 1975 or 76 was the most peaceful year on record (because of an absence of war) but I don't think that that's what you really meant.
Peace starts at home and moves outward in waves. Humans don't seem to be a naturally peaceful type animal. Look at how small children behave. You have to spend your whole life either learning how to do it yourself, or teaching others. Some folks never learn it. Most struggle with it in one way or another. The best way to find peace is to do what we do. Try to create some every day. And most importantly, SPREAD SOME LIGHT AROUND! Set a good example, this is what to do if all else fails. I think we have come to a fork in the road. Things could go either way, but I forsee a day when war just isn't acceptable any more. Maybe then the warriors will be in the minority, and will be seen as common criminals by EVERYONE.
