I seem to see a lot of random shoes strewn on the edges of the road or left some other weird place, like thrown up to a telephone line to hang by the shoelaces. You know what I like to think? That the people for some reason decided to take their shoes off, then suddenly thought, "Wow! This is great, who needs shoes!" and then unceremoniously threw their shoes as far away as possible and went on to lead lead a wonderful barefoot life. Or maybe not, but it's nice to think, right?
Great topic. I've always wondered what the story was behind the lone shoe that lays along the roadside. Did someone decide to throw away a shoe and then take off the other only to pitch it down another street? Maybe a dare for someone to go barefoot? Could it be that someone just bought a pair of new shoes and decided to dispose of their old ones? I can't help but to think up a scenario on how a shoe made it to the side of the road every time I see it.
I rarely if ever see discarded adult-sized shoes, but every summer I see some single kids shoes... little kids sizes that is... I'm sure they are in a stroller or child seat on their mom's bicycle, and take them off without their mom noticing!
I always assume that bad kids steal the shoes from good kids' lockers and throw them up into the phone wires.
Just so you know shoes tied to the telephone lines is a sign of a drug dealer in the area... well it is over here any way :S sorry to spoil the magic :S
whaaaaat??? fleassy.....i have never ever heard that......that must be just a Brighton thing. The way we know a drug dealer is in our area is cause...wait they are everywhere....i dont know....if i see a shoe in the mud i know its because someone went muddin and couldnt get there foot out of the mud so they just slipped outta their shoe......and as far as the powerlines go or rafters in a gym cieling or anything real high up like that......that is jsut to mess with someone lol.....peace.
yeah...in aus the drug dealer thing is true too, especially in the city. apparently if you see shoes thrown over wires your supposed to wait under them and the dealer comes down
Guy sees a kid walking down the road wearing one shoe "Lose a shoe?" he asks the kid. "Nope", the kid replies, "found one."
for my case, that would require standing in the middle of a busy street.... that wasn't very good thinking on their part....
I was driving up north with my family early this year and saw 2 weird/funny looking trees on the side of the road and took a pic... You can only see one of the trees in this pic but there were 2... Makes me wonder how it got started...
haha that picture is great And its not just brighton its truw in as i know people from cambridge, hayes and london who all say the same
Well, now, I've heard that in these parts that shoes over a telephone wire means someone (shoe owner) has just lost their virginity.
around here having shoes up on the power lines, means it's someones truff. Gangs do that to let other gangs know they're running that part of the hood. It's lame, but true.
