Storytime: What made you frist start writing poems?

MAybe you only writen one or two but i want to know what got you started wrting.

I'll start with my own.......

BAck only about a year and a month ago i broke up with this girl, anyways the day afterwords i was kind of lossing touch with reality everything was hazy and dull and grey and i could't feel anything. I felt like i was going to pass out but then i started kind of singing a lyrics. (i don't like to post many poems here becuse i'm not copywritten not that so egotistical about my work that i feel its valued enouph to be taken but i don't my children stolen no matter how ugly they are, and it gives me the excuse thati only put ones i would be heart broken to loose online) Back to the story i was humming i feel i've been aborted, its making me distorted and so on just humming what rymed and felt right and i felt better.( this away on a school trip with her it was a week long) WEll when i got back to home i remembed this poem i wrote for school about a year ago and even thoguh i got c i really liked the poem and so did the people i showed it to. At school after aall the midterm grades cam back i was so upset at how everyone was being munipulated by what teachers gave them as their score, espically the girl who broke up with me( we're sort of strong freinds too) and when i was riding home i saw the clounds and thought about them, i then sat at a computer and wrote what i rembered. I liked reading and showing my work so i wrote one called paper and pens and nuebula to date my second shortest peom. and now about 120 poems later and lot of failed ones i write how i came to find poetry
I never could do short stories or stories my mind is to surratic, well i let you read Nebula becuse i like to share and becuse if you came to poetry forum you probably wanted poetry and i love everyone i write all i wish is that everyone can see them like i do, you know when i read them i remember what i felt like when i wrote it that all anyone writing poems could wish for

Nebula
I'm crusing in cars
I like looking up
I see a sea of clounds
I spy reflected light
I see the rips
I see the gashes
I see the bits of light
The clounds are wide and white
Pierced by pure light
You cannot paint
You cannot write
The beauty of this light

A friend of mine said she wrote poetry and sent me some, and I decided it didn't look too hard and might be fun to write some. But maaan...did my first poems ever suck.

 

I just did one day...I've been writing poetry since 4th grade...it just kind of happened...and once or twice I've tried to stop...but it won't let me...I seriously don't think I'm the one writing it sometimes...haha...

 

Well when I was about twelve I discovered that 3 of my 4 female friends
had all been abused or raped, my first poem 'Thorns of the black rose'
sought expression and I've been writing ever since.

 

I started writting little poems when I was 12, because my mom had left and my dad was an alcoholic and I needed an outlet for all my anger..

 

i started writing poetry when i was in the 6th grade. i wrote anytime i felt strong emotions. it was the only way i could express myself and still do. writing soothes me and i can make peace with my mind when im writing.
