Pressing Kif

Does anyone know if those kif pressers they sell online actually do the job? And how much pollen it takes to get a decent little hash pup using one.

 

I think it's more worth it to just smoke the kief as it is. Pressing it is more for selling it, or transporting it around. Depending on what you need to do, I'd just say save it up in your grinder until you smoke it.

 

Kif burns quite shitty unless it's pressed. Best way to do it take some food grade cellophane, wrap your kif in it, and wrap one layer of paper around it. Place it on a pan on the stove on a VERY low setting and you will start to feel the kif turn into a putty-like substance. Use something wide and flat to push down on your little thing til you can push no more. Don't heat too much while you do this. If done right you will have a little slab of hash.

 

Anyone know if those pollen press things work though?

 

Like the ones pollinator sells? Yes. You can do it yourself though very easily w/o having to order paraphernelia, or you could even use vice grips if you want it pressed real hard.

 

kif in celophane
fold up so none can escape and tape closed
Wrap in newspaper & tape closed
Wet paper till damp
350 degree oven for 20 min
Press any way U can think of

Yea but I'd make sure you get food grade shit like turkey bags cause who knows what temp lower grade cellophane starts to melt at, and smoking cellophane probably isn't that cool.

 

double bag small ammount of kief and tie it off so its airtight( dont throw too much in at once as you want to make sure it gets pressed the whole way through. you dont want a crumbly powdery middle)

dip bag in boiling water for 30 seconds
quickly quickly quickly place between two hardwood boards
C-clamp the boards together as tight as you can and with as many c clamps as you can
leave sit clamped for a half hour
the end result is super dense pressed hash that usually tastes like pixie stix to me.
it may take a few times to get the process down. its all trial and error till ya get it right. this is the easiest way that ive found. where im at (humbolt ca) no one really smokes pressed hash too much. its all ice hash and bubble hash up here. mmm bubble hash

I'm ignorant of what kif is would someone explain

 

The word Kif is used in north america for the collected resin of the plant. you know, the crystals. When you isolate them its kif, and if you press correctly, it becomes hash. Quality of the kif varies with the method.

Though in morroco, I heard kif is used to describe a smoking mix that is smoked by poor people, consisting of marijuana plant, resins , sand , anything

 

So whats the best method for collecting the material to make kif?

 

hang out in norcal where the herb is medical. when people are done harvesting the buds from their plants they throw away the leaf material wich is usually filled with buds too. i cant count the times weve found trashbags full on the side of the road or in dumpsters. let the leaves get super dry and then run them through a 110 size silk screen. theres yer keif

Leaves and stems?

 

Well camper , the stems are pretty useless in this case and might just break your mesh.

Use leaves with trichomes on em, and the buds.

Btw, dried material will yield you lower quality kif. Very small particles of leaf will pass through the screen.

i don't know who you are but i love you. i've been searching online for hours looking for that explaination. I heard it once before and it's the only method i can use because i have real kif, instead of ground up left over shit. Try not to cream yourselves...You can actually see the balloon heads of the trichomes as they reflect the light of the photo setting. Notice how few green specs there are. I say pollen boxes are the way to go. Although the way I calculate it, you'd need about a 1/2lbs worth of kif (not weight of kif) to get a decent brick

 

You know...those little crystals on the weed. Those are trichomes. They are what you want ;p
