Hey just curious if anyone else here is into wildlife rehabilitation? That is, taking in orphaned baby wildlife, raising them to fend for themselves, then letting them go to live on their own. I've only been doing it for 2 years and I have a sub-permit (it's actually illegal to keep wildlife...at least in Michigan but there are some who do it anyways..shh!) I've only done raccoons, but I work with ladies who do squirrels, opossums, fawns, rabbits etc. I get people thinking that i keep the raccoons as pets, but I let them back to mother nature after being their surrogate mother.

So, just curious if theres any other of you on here!! It's extremely rewarding, if you are interested, especially when you catch a peak of you babies all big a grown up!! Check out my gallery for a few more raccoon shots..boy do I have so many pictures I should upload!!!

    Much love, brothers and sisters!

I have some raccoons that live in my attic, if you want to make the trip. haha. I actually feel quite bad for them.. beacuse if southern Ohio wasn't a giant, non-stop shopping mall they would be living in the woods like they were ment to.

I've never raised any wild animals, but my Grandmother raised a few... deer and such. Poachers kill the mom... Grandma found the babies while berry picking in the woods. My father has a pack of semi-tame foxes out at the farm too... he kinda watches out for them. But, in these cases, it wasn't so much of a "return to the wild" thing, as our farm yards are kinda in the middle of the wild.

Yeah, that's what gets me, people complaining about raccoons and other "pests" when they're only going where they can...their forests are running out.
