Well, first off. My girlfriend and I found out 2 days ago, that she is pregnant. We're both SO excited! The child is expected August 12th-16th 2006. We were talking about baby names, and when we came to girl names... Well we both chose the name Selina, after the moon goddess. However we couldn't think of a middle name. I figured I'd ask all of you at HP.com (I'm usually in the Love and Sex board) . SO! throw some ideas at me here. Let me know what you think Selina "_______" LaSalle Any ideas? ^^ THANKS AGAIN! So excited.
Both of their middle names are "Megan", but Laura, my g/f, doesn't want that middle name. Her older sister already named her daughter Crystal Megan'
Ok, I'll have a look. Thanks Greengoddess. OH. Just noticed the "Blessed Be" at the end of your sig. Wiccan eh? So are my girlfriend and I ^^ Selina = Greek Moon.
awsome!! yup so am I.. good luck and congrats on the baby!! my son is now 1, they grow way too fast... make sure you stop and enjoy all the little moments..
Congratulations! I went to a names search site and typed in meanings I thought you might like and then looked at what sounds good with "Selina" and came up with.... Grace-(Latin)-grace Rose-(Latin, Greek)- a flower Willow- (Middle English) -freedom, tree Arin (Hebrew)-"enlightened" Eleanor (Greek)-"light, mercy" Margaret-(Persian/Latin)-child of light; pearl Isadora(Greek)-gift of the moon Aradia(Greek)-goddess of witches Brielle(French)-exhaulted goddess Isis-(Egyptian)-supreme goddess Maeve-(Greek, Latin)- goddess; a purple flower Riannon - (Welsh)- great queen, witch, or goddess *not 100% sure of the accuracy of some of the meanings/origins but you get the general idea. Hope I helped! Let us know what you decide!
I think it would be awesome if her middle name started with an "O", because then her initials would be S.O.L.(=sol=the sun!) And since her first name is after a moon Goddess then it would all work together really interestingly. Orla: Golden Ora: Latin: Light, golden. Polynesian: Life. Orelia: Golden. Orana: The moon. Ozora: The strength of the Lord. Ondrea: Strong, Courageous Opal: Precious gem Orion: A Hunter in Greek Mythology Onyx: A gem; a nail or claw. Selina Orelia LaSalle & Selina Ozora Lasalle are my two favorites from that list.
No, I don't think it is unisex. Just because someone uses a male name for a girl doesn't make it unisex. If you use Andromeda or Athena on a boy does that make them male names? I'm not attacking you personally, lace and feet, it just makes me mad when people use this stupid new trend of using boy's names on girls, that's all. (Aidan, Ryan, Owen, etc... bug the hell out of me when used for girls) I do think Rowan is okay for either gender though. From a very reliable name site, behindthename.com: ORION Gender: Masculine Usage: Greek Mythology Other Scripts: Ωριων (Greek) Pronounced: o-RIE-un [key] Extra Info: Popularity, Namesakes, Comments Options: Contribute Information, Add to List Meaning unknown, but possibly related to Greek ‘οριον (horion) "boundary, limit" or ουρον (ouron) "urine". This is the name of a constellation, which gets its name from a legendary Greek hunter killed by a scorpion sent by Artemis. Oh and lace and feet, I wanted to add I really like your suggestion of Opal! Selina Opal LaSalle sounds nice!
Ah a woman after my own heart I'm part of a baby names forum, so will post there and report back with suggestions. There have been some good ideas so far, and Selina is such a pretty name.
Sorry I've not posted in a while ^^ Been busy busy busy with my girlfriend and such. One name that paticularly stuck out with me was Selina Brielle LaSalle. I'll definatly run that by Laura. I can't believe so many of you have posted already ^^ hah thats so cool. Anyway, tomorrow at 2:30, Laura and I go to the doctor for an ultrasound. I'm so excited, and so nervous at the same time. Crazy emotions. Lace_and_Feet, I LOVE that idea! S.O.L would fit right into the meaning of the name. I must find more "O" middle names! Gosh, I never knew something like this could be so much fun. I'm still open to any and all suggestions ^^. Blessed be all.
i had the hardest time naming my son and a few days before i came up with floyd alexander i think for a girl that layla is a nice middle name
Selina Opal LaSalle... that has a nice ring to it. I like that a lot actually. Laura and I are due at the doctor around 3:00 pm this afternoon. I have 5 hours and 42 minutes to kill x_x. The anxiety is building. I'm going to talk to Laura. I ran Opal by her last night and she immediatly fell in love with it. I'm so nervous. I've yet to tell anyone, including family that we're expecting. Wonder how they will take it... Anyway, off to shower. Thank you all so much for your suggestions. I'll post any new information about the pregnancy ^^ Wish us luck. Blessed be.
